Front mount options

Postby legacydan » Sun Nov 20, 2011 4:38 am

Anyone know what the FMIC bolt-on( minor modification) options are for the BL5 jdm model with twinscroll turbo's? Thinking of changing to front mount from hyper flow top mount. Only one i have seen is blitz and that needs battery to be relocated and aftermarket intake. Is the AUDM and jdm bumper/crash bar set up the same so if a FMIC fits a liberty it should also fit same year jdm legacy?

I'd say that since both are rhd adm and jdm bl5 should not be too dissimilar re front crash bar, pm Jaydece about getting pics when he goes his setup with a hdi front mount , blitz to a quality intercooler too.

G'day,
I have a HDI front mount on mine. Only required as minor trim to the inside of the bumper. I will post pics when I sober up.
Kinda flush. Fitment is something. ADM as F*ck.

Thanks, looking forward to pics. Can you still use the standard airbox and battery stays in same spot? Or any other mods needed to make it fit?

dynoed at 305bhp today, kocking like crazy with increased charge temps due to crappy cooling on the dyno and heatsoak with the Hyperflow TMIC so timing was pulled all across the range as soon as that happened

Geez. Mine only made 180 with a vf34. Maybe just wind the boost and or timing back a bit. Would hate to see you losing power due to a poor flowing cooler.

hmm..it would seem they have made using flickr a little too hard these days.

edit. seriously i suck at this.

edit67. Dan, despite the crap photo, you should be able to see that a could of mm needed to be skimmed around the edges, where the pipe joins the cooler.

thanks for the pic. do you have any more pics of the install? do you know if you can re fit the aluminum crash bar when intercooler is fitted. don't like the idea of loosing that and neither would my insurance company I think. use photobucket for pics!

looking at the HDI install guide, its looks like you do loose the crash bar and also the belly pan it seems, also need to switch to a CAI by the looks of it as intercooler piping goes down where the airbox snorkel is. Looks like bumper is secured onto intercooler brackets with some cable ties too!

You sobered up yet? :alcoholic:

If you could take a few pics of yours installed, from the front and from in the engine bay that would be great!
