intake pipe

Postby SUM12C » Mon Sep 10, 2007 10:37 pm

Anyone looked at replacing their intake pipe with a silicon? one (like the perrin one, don’t know the cost)? maybe someone can set up a group buy?

Not sure if I am correct, but I got the A'Pexi CAI and it comes in metal (grey metal from the pink pod to the engine).

Check this pic... is this what you meant?

no he means the piping under the intake manifold all the way to the turbo.
i've replaced mine with the HKS allumium piping that comes with the hks racing suction kit. not sure if I could feel a huge difference.

Hmmm really?

This is just my opinion but I am abit skeptical about it.. I may be totally wrong, but can some tell me how this mod would be beneficial, other then looking awesome under the bonnet :)

Most aftermarket intake pipes are larger, don't flex under boost and usually don't absorb too much heat. That translates to more air into the turbo quicker and cooler than stock.

Alan, metal will be worse than silicon at keeping heat out. It is more prone to heat soak than silicon, or even rubber.
