Has anyone got one of these installed? Im wondering can you still put the engine cover back on with it fitted? Is the much gains over stock one after re-tune?

Looking at this one here:

http://www.hyperflow.com.au/index.php?widget=products&section=subaru-libertylegacy-b4gt&id=hytm-libgtc

Im presuming fitment is the same between jdm and adm models?

On the turbo side of it, it doesnt appear to have the pipe connecting to turbo, does this mean you re-use the stock plastic elbow?

Im hoping if it is compatible, i can use it with my rotated vf36 conversion to unlock a few more ponies :)

thats how thee factory jdm tmic looks. Are they the same?

Dan.
I have one of these top mounts on our 04 wagon and the engine cover definitely fits back on.
I'm unsure of the difference it makes over the stock item as I had our car tuned straight after the install, but when you see the difference in thickness it "must" be a better option.
The plastic elbow from the turbo to the intercooler is re-used and fits fine. There is a silicon elbow available from AVO if you would prefer to run a silicon hose.
I'm unsure about the VF36 option, you may want to ask the guys at Hyperflow if this option is a possibility.
Hope this helps mate and enjoy the new top mount.

Cheers,
Rusty.

Is there a benefit from getting a silicon turbo elbow compared to the stock one?

I went to the expense of purchasing one Clarence and to be honest, for a standard turbo I think it's a little on the overkill side.
That's just my opinion though.

Rusty.

i had a trawl through the site last night and saw a few pictures of it fitted and they look the same. can someone who has one fitted maybe show me a picture of your stock intercooler and with the new Hyperflow fitted.

Would a silicone elbow be less resistant to heat soak compared to the hard plastic elbow? I will need to go silicone anyway when the vf36 goes in. will look a bit like this:

That's exactly what the elbow pipe on ours looks like Dan.
There is a thread somewhere with pics of the Hyperflow fitted to our wagon, but I'm having trouble finding it.
I may still have the pics on our hard drive Dan, give me a yell if your keen to see some.

Cheers,
Rusty.

i think i found your thread here rusty:

Looks like a great fit. So was there any noticeable gains after fitting this? Hopefully i have some surplus cash for the build and this can be purchased too. I am aiming for about 300whp with the swap so this should help get to that and also be good for a bit more than that too. Weather gets no where near as hot as you guys get it(25-30c max in summer) so i should be great for mine. So the only modifications needed was to the engine cover? everything else went together without issues?

i sent hyperflow an email asking about fitment and shipping costs, hopefully its not too much, at least i dont have to pay the Australian taxes so i should get it 10% cheaper than rrp

Dan.
Yes mate, that's the thread.
It went together perfectly, no issues or problems.
The only thing that was a little time consuming/fiddly was trimming the engine cover. (I had the cover on and off a couple of times to get the fit perfect).
I used a Dremel with a cut off wheel to start and finished it with a flat file.
As for noticing any gains after install, it seemed a little better on boost but it was a little hard to tell as I didn't get a chance to drive the car every day.
I think this top mount (or any other larger cored/better flowing top mount) comes into it's own with the addition of a decent dump pipe, larger exhaust and a tune. How these cars drive after these simple mods has to be experienced to be appreciated. :D
You going with the larger VF36 will make an even bigger difference, she should be heaps of fun to drive once you get it all together.
Best of luck with the install Dan and please keep us posted.

Cheers,
Rusty.

Sounds good, lots of people telling me that the standard TMIC is good for 350bhp and no need to upgrade etc, but im thinking there is nothing negative about fitting the hyperflow TMIC(bar the cost!) It will definitely help keep intake temps substantially lower that stock one, and have none of the negatives of a FMIC.

i would love to know what she will be putting down after new vf36, hyperflow TMIC, sti ported headers and up pipe, Milltek decat downpipe, Walbro fuel pump, Fujitsubo CBE and the ecutek remap. She should be tough to beat! and still look stock under the hood, think ill keep the factory airbox with k+n drop in. might go for k+n intake but not sure i want the extra intake noise and might not actually give too much extra, power wise. Ill update my other mod thread as stuff starts happening

sounds good, you know you need different up pipe downpipe and headers to fit the vf37?

Also you will need to rotate the compressor housing. do you have any pictures of the HKS, i can tell you if it will work with the vf37

Yeah i know i need to change all those exhaust parts was hopoing with the rotation i could save the TMIC and intake manifold.

Not mine below but identical....

Yep that will work, no need to change the intake manifold and you might only need some different pipe work on turbo side of TMIC. I didnt know HKS did a TMIC, if you dont mind can you let me know where you got it and how much it cost?

Rotating the housing is a piece of piss by the way, a few bolts to remove and that but you will need an aftermarket actuator or bracket to keep the stock one. I have Kinuguwa one ordered, i plan to use the bracket that it came with just so the actuator is bolt on and then send that off to Turbo dynamics and they will upgrade the actuator, Not sure of the quality of the kinugawa actuator so i dont want to take a chance with that, but bracket should "bolt on" to rotated compressor housing.

HKS one is very expensive. It comes with a carbon fibre engine cover...

Thats crazy! Blitz intake kit comes with a carbon box too! They are mad into the carbon with the JDM stuff! Anyone have a link to it so i can amuse myself? Stuck in Belguim for the week, just me, my laptop and some strong Belgian beer!
