So I used the search function and can't really find the info I'm after so I thought I'd just put it out there to see If someone can help.

Basically I need to replace the front o2 sensor as it's failing. What I want to know is,are all o2 sensor's for the libs the same? Or do I need a specific one for the GT?

And also if someone could point me in the right direction of getting one in Sydney that would be great otherwise I guess I'll resort to eBay

Subaru part SU22641AA220 - Price from Subaru is about $450 and then add about 2 hours labour to that. It is basically a 4 pin Bosch O2 sensor and can be obtained from Repco or any good parts store for about $320. Even eBay has them for about $300.

When you say "on the way out" - what issues do you have? Has it thrown a code? Is fuel consumption poor or the idle rough?

It started with a rough idle and then the CEL came on showing the code for the front o2 sensor (I know this because my mechanic checked the code with his plug in diagnostic computer).

So basically I can just go to repco and get a Bosch 4 pin o2 sensor and that will fit? No specific type aside from the 4 pin plug is needed?

You will need the sensor that matches the Subaru part number. Bosch make many different 4 wire O2 sensors. Any good parts place should be able to cross reference with the part no. above.

I'm waiting an AFM to come in to check out if it's the problem with my GT,

When I first start the car the rough idle is either not there, or very feint, after driving a little and the engine warming up when I stop at the lights is when the rough idle starts..

weird thing is, I was told it could be my AFM, so I bought MAF sensor cleaner and sprayed the AFM / MAF clean, it fixed the idle problem up for about 60-80 mins, and then started again..

Now, you reckon it could be a coincidence after the clean? it's really annoying me.

Is this a common problem? i just had exactly the same thing happen ended costing about 500 to replace and install the new part. Sucks

Apparently it is quite common and I am yet to find another alternative to going through Subaru for the part as it seems no one else stocks this part, I spoke to repco and burson.

Going to Subaru for the part alone is $523, I'm happy to fit myself as it's quite accessible which at least saves on the labour.

For now though I'm stuck with my intermittent check engine light

Price from Subaru should be around $430 for an 02 sensor. This one from ebay is one of the cheapest around that I have found..

My front O2 sensor is playing up as well. Mechanic tried to fit a generic 4 wire O2 sensor, with no sucess. Like everyone else has already said, the only way is to get an item that matches the subaru part number

Well the situation has gotten worse with the car going into what I assume is a self preservation mode, running only half boost.
I'll be calling Subaru first thing tomorrow to book it in to be fixed as there seems to absolutely no ther alternative

Not sure where in Sydney you are located, but i got Paul from Pulse to source me a alternative to the Subaru brand sensors. It was $300 plus installation.
We got fed up with using the Subaru items as they were the ones that kept on going (3 in total). I've had this one for a year with no problems so far. Could we worth giving him a buz, or again try the Ebay items.
