Hey guys,

I'm new in the turbo seen just owning a Lib GT 04... Looking to upgrade the turbo but just not sure what to get as a suitable bolt on upgrade...

I was looking at the previous post's which has been helpful but i'm looking to upgrade a bit more... I was looking at a TD06...

Do you guys think this would be suitable for a straight bolt on upgrade? The one that I was looking at apparently replaces VF40, VF46 & VF52.

I have looked in the previous posts and know the standard ones fitted and it's none of those ones I stated above but I have heard that some of those above are straight bolt on as a replacement or upgrade to the standard so that's why I thought this TD06 would be a straight bolt on without any modifications...

Any help or input would be great!

Keen to get the turbo talk going again as I'm now looking at replacing the turbo on
my 05 GT AUTO. Thinking vf34, but again no idea what's going to bolt straight on as I have the twin scroll and a vf34 is not twin scroll.

I know of at least four people in Melbourne alone who have ditched the twin-scroll to go for a WRX setup.

Yea I'm Keen to go to a vf34, but do you guys know if it requires any mods to make it fit? Thought the exhaust housing would be different.

Exhaust manifolds, up pipe and dump pipe are all different between single scroll and double. Exhaust housing is different as you though.

Sucks as you just bought a twin scroll dump.........

Hmmm good point, maybe I'll look for a twin scroll upgrade turbo, how much would I be looking at for a up pipe? And would there be an upgrade turbo that fits the same exhaust manifold?

Wondering if a TD06SL2-20G Twin Scroll turbo would bolt straight on? Apparently it can replace VF36,VF37 and VF42 without replacing anything...

no bolt on replacement options for the vf38/td04hla and if you want to change to vf36/37 you need new headers up pipe and downpipe and need to click the compressor housing to use your stock fmic.

vf36 is great though :blind:

MTQ Sydney priced me $2200 to have my standard VF38 bored out and a VF34 cartridge fitted. That price includes the full rebuild...

Get the gain of the twin scroll with the VF34... That was an option as it would bolt straight onto the stock up and dump pipes... So could be an option for those who want to upgrade without the extra cost...

I myself have just got this done. Couldn't tell you what its like as my motor is currently getting a new short block fitted. Once I get it back I can report on its result.

Lol... Too late.. Back fire is gone but up and down idle is still there with new oxy sensor... Any suggestions? Not sure if the comp set the error code as a hard code when the car was running with a faulty Oxy sensor coz the check engine light is gone but the rough idle still there...
