Easy…………… EJ207 block replacement and a tune…… just to ensure things are running safely with the upgraded turbo.

Also consider timing belt, water pump, timing belt bearing & tensioner and spark plugs.

Its just only had the 100k service and the tb, tensioners, water pump, plugs etc have all been replaced.

ok, so say i went this way. how much would you expect it to be?

My guess including a tune would be about 5-6k

Long block about 3.5k….. if I remember correctly
Remove/refit engine $500
Reassembly engine $500
Miscellaneous parts (gaskets/hoses/seals/fluids)…. $500
Head service$1k……. builder will confirm this once they are removed and checked.
Tune $1k

Try contacting Subaru directly…in the past they have had both short and long blocks on hand going for a good price.
Not a soobi anymore, but still slightly dirty

smart move ! Do exactly that and Just get forged pistons and leave the rest of the ej25 alone.

Yeah unfortunately Subaru decided against using forged pistons in the ej257 short block , both ej255 and ej257 short blocks are exactly the same semi closed deck blocks . The only difference is in the heads, which will be different. find a new ej255 short (which may be cheaper than the counterpart ej257 short) and put forged pistons in it . And use you current ej20 heads and ancillaries etc.

update time.

what I have spent time on is sourcing the right package.

Myself, Kris from Rising Sun Subaru and Michael from MSR have come up with is this:

A 2008-2012 sti 207 long motor with duel AVCS.

This motor never come to Aus,this is the japan sti 2L motor.

As far I have been told, it is the only 1 in Aus(if not the world) with the latest GRB sti long motor fitted to there car and using the duel AVCS to suit my ECU and I should get a very healthy power increase over the stock liberty duel AVCS 2L.

Work starts the 21st of November.

Watch this space.

That's awesome mate.

Good luck with it all. Do you mind me asking what the block set you back? And what is the anticipated static compression ratio once your heads go back on? I'm thinking it'll be close to 10:1 or at least 9.8:1 (noting liberty 2l had 9.5:1). This should make it nice to drive off boost (meaning you can go for a larger turbo as the lag wot necessarily be too bad) ;)
