Yeah I got the same kit and installed it last week. Absolutely amazing how heavy the dual mass flywheel was compared to the new one.

The major difference is in the peddle feel, it seems very light now and the friction point at a nice mid level. The engine revs up a lot more when not on boost and it is a bit twitchy on take off. That maybe just me getting used to it though, but with the money saved compared to what Subaru quoted I am very pleased with the result.

You only were charged $350 for install? That is bargain price considering it's approx 5-6 hour job .

I hate this thread , got caught out and had my clutch replaced with standard DMF less than a year ago.
Cost heaps, feel is non existant, burns on every hard take off and now shudders on take off when cold in morning . Hey if any body is waiting for theirs to wear out before replacing, just lend me your car . Or go to the drags .

Was thinking about replacing with lower km GT . As misfire requires spending money on motor, standard injectors too expensive so go after market and increase performance at same time, but was worried if the clutch could cope , more money , but maybe finishing off this standard clutch is not so bad .

Increase motor performance and replace clutch again, along with bits wearing out 180,000km+ on my GT, could still be cheaper than low km STI.

I know what you mean mate, I got my DMF machined and put back in a few weeks before these flywheels became available

Actually it was just under 4hrs and done by a guy who used to work for Subaru so was in good hands.

i just got the clutch after much mucking around.
clutch had to be taken out twice
as the old clutch was faulty? or different part number wat ever
happy with the clutch but not happy with the service i received.
i also understand there are few members on this site that has bought clutch from this retailer and the first clutch i had was for a non turbo and not faulty. (though i can visually see the faults)

in all got it done after 2 clutches and alot of BS which i am sick of
and in the end just gave up and copped the extra labour.

they tried to charge me RRP on the clutch and my mechanic trade price on his labour

I'm confused. Is ACS' kit based on Exedy's?

So three years on and only 30,000kms I have had to replace this clutch. The pedal stated getting high and then it let go. I had a different clutch disk put in this time that has a very slightly bigger diameter friction service. The new disc is a different material. I had ACS do the work just in case there was a problem with the design of the original kit. The problem is the wear rate as my first oem clutch lasted 130,000 Kim's without slipping. Hopefully the new disc wears slower.

My wife has driven the car for the last 3 yrs and we have moved to the hills and have a very steep drive. I think the lightweight f/w, cold starts up a steep hill have a lot to do with the wear.

The f/w was fine and just required a quick machine. Pedal is great again and the new disc material has a bit more bite and it feels better than the old material. Same sti 1050 kg pressure plate ( new one) installed.

Different noise with this disk. No engagement noise, no chatter but there is a slightly noticeable overrun gear noise at low speeds in low gears. Apparently this is common in subarus. Spoke to ACS about it and they say it is the different design of the springs in the heavier duty clutch disk.
