Probably won't get a chance to tinker again with this till the weekend.

No problem - not a hijack at all - it's all on topic and it's great to hear how your efforts are going... Sorry that it's not been successful so far - but you've saved me over £100 and a potential divorce proceedings at the moment

Dan has been very helpful on our 'home forum' too. I won't put all the details on here - but the thread is located here... http://www.uklegacy.com/forums/index.ph ... pic=120994 with details on my dissapointing rolling road run. You might find it interesting. - Just be aware that in the UK we tend to show power and torque related to flywheel! In a nutshell - my peak power was 244hp - obviously well below manufacturers quote of 280hp - so just looking into reasons for that...

No luck at all no.

I've had to park this for a while as life has gotten somewhat in the road. In the interim I also bought one of the cheapish VAG-COM USB cables.

I wrote to OBD-KEY asking that they send me the piece of software to initialise the SSM mode on the OBD-KEY but they never responded and so now I have another piece of inert junk that works on other cars just not Subaru's. Frustrating.

Hi Mick,

Yes I'm still here but have nothing to report at all. Have been a bit disheartened by my failed attempts at talking to the car and although I did buy some more cheap ebay junk - the last thing was a VAG OBD2 cable, I haven't even taken it out of its packaging...

Plus I have a minor oil leak somewhere in the engine bay and it stinks so I've been pretending that the car doesn't have an oil leak and so have been not really thinking about the car too much.

Hey guys got my elm327 BT dongle today off ebay n tried to connect to my mates vx commodore with no luck but want tk try it on my 05 lib gt but cant seem to see the obd por for some reason. There is a white plug to the left of the drivers side foot well but doesnt seem to be the correct shape and didnt want to risk plugging it in incase its the wrong plug. Can anyone plz shed some light as to the location of the port plz. My mechanic at dr concepts gave me some pointers but doesnt seem to be in that location. Also how woild i go about confirming if my ecu is obd2 compliant also my car was tuned by hpf so not sure if that will make a difference or not. If this doesnt work am i right in what ive read above that i can connect a vag-com cable to my obd2 port and run it to my laptop? At the moment i am using torque pro on my samsung galaxy s2 rooted. Thank u

It is directly above the accelerator pedal. Your car is 100% OBD2. You must have the wrong plug if it doesn't fit.. I believe VAG-Com will work but requires some minor adjustments before it will (I was told this by someone once, I have never actually seen it done)

If you stick your head in the drivers side footwell and then look/feel along the edge of the centre console at the door side you'll see (from the top) the hood release latch and then just before the bottom where the plastic levels off you should see the OBD port. It is in a recessed hole and the port isn't that securely attached so your port may be tucked away in there somewhere.

I think that the narrow end of the connector faces the front of the car.

Hope it works for you.

Hey all found it lol i got it to connect but doesnt seem to have any sensor read outs. The eorror code log works but when i try to scan using torque i get the following error message. Ecu does not support the following mode $06 any ideas?

The JDM cars do not need to be OBD2 compliant - I think this is the problem we are having with our twinscrolls. The OBD-KEY that Matthew bought was supposed to be SSM compliant that would get over this hurdle - but so far he has had no success with even that one for $100 odd instead of the ELM327 for $20 ??

So AFAIK we are a bit stuck at the moment... :?

A bit more info here in a topic titled "The Torque Android app now works with SSM" - but only with OBDKey as far as I can tell from reading so far...

Had a tinker this morning but didn't get anywhere so have contacted OBD-key again to get their software that 'allegedly' activates the SSM mode and will revert once I have that.

My mapper has one he uses here - http://www.mobilscan.dk/2/en/default.html

He says he has had it working with a JDM Impreza - although the website says nothing at all about supporting SSM - so I am dubious - but I am getting a rolling road session and a bit of mapping done on Friday and he will bring his unit to test - so we shall see...
