Postby phuiie » Tue May 07, 2013 10:41 am

Hi Sorry if i posted this in the wrong section.

i have a 2004 GT Liberty that the power steering pump is F**ked. it needs replacing. Subaru has quoted me 2k for this unit. ive called some local wreckers but they told me the part is rare.
can anyone tell me if this part will fit in my car?

The part says it will fit 04 2.5 GT . im getting a bit confused. the part number i was told from Subaru is 34430AG0219L. the link above does not match the Part Number. but the Link Below does? but it says it's not compatible. is

remember that when buying steering relater parts from the US that their steering gear is on the other side of the car.

Give Ben (Mechanical Stig) at Ichiban Imports a call.
he'll either have something suitable available or be able to advise a replacement from another model or reco option for you

Awesome to hear.
My PS pump went early last year and they pulled the whole $1800 replacement on me.

Also offered it to be reconditioned and 24 month warranty on it for $800, decided to go for this since I needed the car to go away and car was still on a lease at the time, so it was all pretax.
Ended up taking 2 weeks to get it sorted since the shop kept delaying the rebuild since they didn't have any onhand stock for swap. I was given an outback for loan but part of their insurance was it couldn't leave ACT. I told them this was not an option as they had my car for the holiday so they let me take it down the coast.

Was that at a dealer? A Subaru dealer wanted to charge me over $2k for a new pump or $1.5k to rebuild mine, my mechanic rebuilt it for $200

Yep dealership, though it was obvious they took it to a 3rd party for rebuild and probably would have cost roughly the same for me to take it there myself. I guess different dealers have trade ties with local businesses so the price would vary.
I could have rebuilt it myself but as mentioned it was all tax writeoff. Couldn't complain when it comes to warranty either as the dealer is very good to deal with in that regard.
