Boost and restrictor "pill" questions

Postby my04gt » Sat Nov 05, 2011 9:56 am

Hi Guys
Im new to this MY04 GT liberty setup.
Of course im chasing more ponies then it came out with standard.
I have owned the car for approx 4 months now and have had to do many basic service items and repairs, the car is very very clean and has been maintained by Subaru, BUT I think the last owner was a tight ass and didnt have basic repairs done.
So far i have found the variable cam timing valves were siezed (all fixed now)
Front 02 sensor was faulty (causing poor idle) all fix now
Air flow meter was faulty (causing poor throttle response) fixed now
Cleaned out the waste gate valve (feel better now) but still not right
My problems are this!
I installed a boost gauge, as the car still feel very slow/restricted, i found the boost to be hitting a maximum of 7psi,
So i installed a Manual boost controller (just too see if it made a difference) I found 2 things
1/ there are "2" pills in the waste gate vac line ("1" on the waste gate side and 1 on the other side of the "T" piece (is this correct) i wouldnt think it needed 2 restrictors ?? (refer pics)
2/ when i increased the boost manually to 15psi/14psi or 13psi, the car felt like it hit a limiter
I must admit as much as i love the look and feel of this baby, my xrt6 was alot easier to play with and understand (managed to get 357 RWKW with very min mods and 10psi boost)

Come on guys make me pround and help me get this girl working correctly

Could be anything, best thing to do is to get a tactrix 2.0 cable and log what it's doing

there are no pills fitted to your liberty from factory unlike some of the WRX's , the pic you posted is of a WRX setup no a liberty

357 RWKW with very min mods and 10psi boost) did you go to Pulse for this outcome ?? even if you ment HP that still makes 260 kw@rw
and all that on the stock turbo ...WOW!!!

Hi PHAT GT
the tune was done at Elite automotive in Brisbane.
It was definatly in RWKW (made it into the 300 club and got a free hat ha ha ha)
I found it so much easier working on the flacon cause i could relate to it, also when ya google 04 xr6t you only get 04 xr6t,it is almost impossiable to find info on this car of mine (as im not sure if the american or wrx have the same system)
But not ta worry this is the whole idea of forums like this to learn.

in regards to your reply, I realise the pick was not from my car, i was using the pic to explain where i found 2 restrictor pill on my GT Libery
Are you saying that the my04 2.0lt GT is not ment to have any restrictor pills??

If this is the case why would someone add 2?
