Turbo problems...?

Postby Hobba » Tue Jan 25, 2011 7:17 pm

Hi guys,

Driving down the freeway today, and lost pretty much all boost. Just seems to kinda half wind up but nothing really happens. Took her to S&J auto to get a diagnosis and it looks like im going to need a new turbs or a rebuild!! Anyone had similar problems?? Just really wondering what options are out there if I decided to go with a new Turbo, they said a stock one would be around the $3500 mark, rebuild about $1800 to $2500 depending on the problem. They also gave me a slim hope that I could be something else, I guess I'll find out Monday when they gut it! :( Shattered too I was meant to be going on a cruise on Sunday with a few mates with their LIbs.

Good time to upgrade have a look at gtpumps website for there gtps01 or s02 replacement turbo in normal or top mount configuration. Better than td04, and will handle more boost should you decide to mod other bits.

Yep they will bolt straight on, it's a pretty easy job to do yourself if you have a weekend to spare. Check legacyGT for diy install walkthrough and save yourself some money. Get a few mates to help out as well.

Throwing this out there, I've seen that the VF45 is a direct replacement for the VF38 on the auto GT, and replaces the manual GT also..

Ebay seller has them for 600 or so
Back to Subaru again.. think I would have learnt my lesson the first time round!

Now - 05 Liberty GT (Sorta Stock)
Previous - 03 Liberty B4 (Modified)
