"Remote installations
Turbochargers are sometimes mounted well away from the engine, in the tailpipe of the exhaust system. Such remote turbochargers require a smaller aspect ratio due to the slower, lower-volume, denser exhaust gas passing through them. For low-boost applications, an intercooler is not required; often the air charge will cool to near-ambient temperature en route to the engine. A remote turbo can run 300 to 600 degrees[citation needed] cooler than a close-coupled turbocharger, so oil coking (forming solid residue) in the bearings is of much less concern. Remote turbo systems can incorporate multiple turbochargers in series or parallel."

To me i wouldn't bother. You would have trouble reselling your car after installing such an unknown setup.

Sell and buy the twin turbo on carsales atm

Thanks hamish, always the informative poster.
When I saw remote turbo I was thinking of remote controlled haha
Was a pretty vague post to begin with though, but I never thought the Liberty engine bay was big enough for such a deal. Where exactly would you put it to get away from all of the heat from the engine?

Sounds like a recipe for extreme turbo lag...

Hmm interesting concept. There isn't much room underneath the car to fit the piping that would be needed I'd think. Also if the turbos got damaged by a stray stone or speed hump it'd be a big shame. From my understanding and personal experience turbos spool better/quicker with pulses or shoves of exhaust gas from fewer cylinders vs a constant dense flow of gas, forthwith Turbo lag is likely to be another problem also fitting >1 turbos in series would only compound the problem but thats just theory it'd be interesting to hear from someone thats seen this in the flesh. I know of people trying to plumb turbos in the front wheel housings primarily for the cooler ambient temps - but again extra plumbing = more lag.
