Jake,

Did you try Ivan at x3emotorsport? I have done most of my build with him and will be doing any future work with him. Very reasonable pricing and good quality work.

Nah I haven't really explored much yet - What sort of $$? I thought it was really $$$$ there ? Or was that just the custom exhaust stuff?

Custom exhaust work in stainless steel is not cheap but other mechanical work is. His mechanic did my sc unit pull down and refurbish.

Thats come out very well for you, cant complain about that considering the work done.

Gasket kit has everything you need for HG replacement

No, I have no more in stock. Just follow some of the links provided by me and other member for ebay sellers of the quality VR gasket set

Did you lower your radiator fan coolant temps when you tuned your car?

Turns out girlfriends Dad has all the tools in their shop to machine the heads and has done on other peoples heads before.

I read somewhere that because of timing chain the milling had to be very precise or else the timing would be out?
Is this true, and if so, how would he know exactly what this limit is and how to machine it perfectly? Is there a specification to follow or something? This will save me around $600 bux if he can do it instead of cylinder head shop.

Hey Tradewind,

Certainly cannot complain about the cost considering the huge amount of work completed, Had the 1K service done since the repairs, check the engine and making sure everything is still all in check along with replacing the water with coolant :)

Can hasn't used a drop of water during the first 1k and no coolant since the work was done in November, have done about 2,500 since it was done and the car is running like a new car!!!

speak soon everyone.

Hey guys,

I think I am now joining the club. Still very new issue. However, I havent noticed the temperature changing too much, will have a better look. Also my overflow bottle seams to be empty and bubbling over, with dried up coolant splatter in the engine bay. Does this sound like the makings of a HG?
Defiantly want to get an upgraded radiator, suggestions?

Re: (not)Overheating, but yes Head Gasket, ?re-torque?

Looking at this issue.
Can people comment about the latest/best options for gaskets to be used on this job?
The earlier part numbers quoted by people for Victor Reinz are being re-directed to different kits, maybe not of same quality?
The Victor Reinz website 'online catalog' does not seem to have a listing for the 3.0 engine.
Appreciate if people with recent (2019) experience can chip in with what they have done/used
--
Ok, so I looked again on ebay and the HS54655 still seems to be available from a few US stockists.
Question I am still curious about, is this what people are still using?
--
And another question: Has anyone thought about the possibility of re-torquing the head bolts for trying to fix this issue?
My case (which seems to be same as common case) is compression leaking into coolant (no oil contamination), and various people suggesting issues with the slightly smaller 10.5 diameter head bolts on these probably stretching over time.
I am not even sure whether the head bolts can be accessed for re-torquing without pulling the engine?
...Or does the view once engine is pulled apart show that the sealing rings at the edges of cylinder bore have actually failed?
