Did any of you guys ever stop to consider that English isn't everybody's first language? My Japanese wife sometimes makes spelling errors and is also very conscious of it. Personally I think all these posts about spelling, including this one, should be removed as they don't offer anything constructive.

Certainly, if I was posting on a French forum and made typos or grammatical errors I would want them to point it out to me so I can improve.

Certainly. But with vast online dictionaries and spellcheckers, if one were really that self-conscious about posting publicly, they have plenty of tools at their disposal to get the words right. Grammer, on the other hand, is more difficult to correct and spot.

But most people in this day and age are too lazy to care about proper english, and use 'internet/instant messaging english' instead.
