Hi all,
I have recently purchased a My06 spec B wagon and feel the aircon is not what it should be. The wife has an 02 outback and her air con is cold and works on auto the way I imagine it should( turns the fan down when cooled to desired temp.)
However my air con will blow flat out forever and doesn`t seem half as good or cold as the outbacks. I took the car back to Subaru Doncaster where it came from and they check it out and said it seemed fine (fell within their giudelines).
What are your aircons like? Frankly I`m alittle disappointed in it.

Mine gets pretty damn icy cold and it's an MY04. Perhaps your system has leaked some of its refrigerant? The aircon needs to be run for at least 5mins or so every fortnight or thereabouts to keep the lubricating oil circulated and the seals moistened, otherwise the seals can dry/shrink and leak refrigerant.

Best to go to an aircon specialist and get the system pressure tested/regassed shouldn't cost more than about $100 or so.

Bingo. It's good practice to run it every now and then even in winter. Another possibility is a cracked condenser, which is the story with my old car. Few stray stones will do that... and then you're looking at about $500 for a new condenser. Take it to an auto-elec/aircon specialist, they'll be able to diagnose the problem
