hey guys
my 2006 liberty spec b makes a whistling noise.

when in high revs foot flat to the ground. in any gear. mind you haven't tried 4th 5th 6th as i would be flying.

but as i said makes a whistling noise any ideas what it could be?

my car is using excessive oil if that has anything to do with it? which is getting checked out by subaru

Slipping Timing belt perhaps?

Could be gearbox whine too?

the belts are chain driven no i thought it wouldn't slip. i guess probably wear.

could be from the gearbox it's hard to tell it doesn't do while i rev it. just while it under load it does.

but in saying so i cannot rev the car to the redline whilst not under load

i thought only the H6 was chain, the H4s are belt.

yeah chain driven the H6

My car makes that noise too, I thought it was normal....

the sound doesn't bug me at all. just was curious

anyone else makes the same noise?

could be the headers?

i mean... mine are custom and stainless steel, so of course mine are going to be louder (and they are) but mine whistles quite a lot from the headers under engine load... maybe the stock exhaust whistles from the headers too??

i know what you mean i have standard headers. i have custom made quad tips. had them for a few weeks and noticed the car making that sound only few days ago. i'll keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse.
