hullo all,
the engine mounts in my car are both rooted... so i need some new ones... (apparently a common problem for the ez30 motor)
i am using stock ez30r mounts in my gen2 so anything that can replace them should fit my car...
anyone got any suggestions without me having to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars with subaru for soft ass genuine ones?

Are they really all that bad? Any "heavy duty" engine mount is just going to transfer more NVH to the body of your car. The increased vibration will probably cause issues with other components in the engine bay as well IMO.

I know there are STI engine mounts available for the EJ20T Libs, but unsure about the H6 motor.
I'd be looking at an option like STI (A heavy duty version of the stock units) as opposed to a solid engine mount as it'll shake the sh!t out of your car & make it somewhat uncomfortable to be in.

it's got coilovers in it, so i'm used to being shaken around...
and they have to be replaced because they're cracked and causing the engine to clunk around a bit...
apparently the main difference between the ez30 ones and the ej20/25 ones is that they mount with 3 bolts instead of 2...

Have you driven a car with heavy duty engine mounts before? I have a friend that just installed heavy duty mounts in his Prelude and now it transmits this really nasty and loud vibration into the cabin whenever he changes gears... hes at the point where hes considering changing back to stock mounts just because its making him not want to drive tha car.
Could be the particular mounts hes using though... i dunno if its the same with all 'heavy duty' mounts or cars for that matter

i just don't want to fork out hundreds of dollars for stock mounts which are notorious for breaking after not too long...
i figure aftermarket mounts will last longer...

i have a set of the GrpN STi engine mounts at home, they were fitted and gave a slight vibration through the steering wheel.. but car felt alot better with it done.

There you go... i guess its VERY different for different cars and different mounts... my friends vibration was not only noticeable to the passenger but annoying and made being in the car not enjoyable

I would suggest you just go with the Subaru mounts made for your car? They will still likely outlast your car unless you plan to keep it for another five years or something.

the stock subaru ones are the ones that are on the car now, broken...
the only reason i have for not wanting to go with OEM is because apparently they're rediculously expensive...

have you even priced them with subaru yet? what year is your car again? of course older cars are going to wear out oem parts like mounts over time.

Are you sure the 4 cyl Grp N's won't work?
I know the 6 cyl uses the 3 bolts, but the inner bolt might not matter as long as the 2 running north south go in.
See if you can get a 4 cyl mount from a wrecker/part-out and see how different it is.
What did COBB, Perrin or whoever it was use as engine mounts when they put that 6cyl twin turbo in that Impreza?
Standard 6cyl mounts RRP are $259 ea, you could get both Grp N's for that and have change.
