I am about to get a new liberty 3.0r Spec B, I was wondering what are the must do's when getting the car i.e don't rev the car over 4k. Is there any set requirements for a brand new H6 motor ??

When I complained about oil consumption problems, the Subaru staff advised me to "drive it hard"

I think you need to give it a few runs with wide open throttle, just don't let the revs climb too high for the first few 100km.

I ran mine in at Calder Park

I went out and checked my oil, 10000km since last service and its about 1mm from the high marker and pretty clean.....no problems.

So Ric didnt you get a new motor? I would be very unhappy if this was the case

I did about 3,500 km driving around South Australia, and it didn't use a drop. Three months and about 5,000km of city driving took 1.9 litres.
It's having the 25,000 service tomorrow, then they want it back to check in 2,000km.

I would dot be a happy camper, whats the reason for the excess consumption?

I'm guessing it's what I've read elsewhere, it's getting sucked around the rings when I back off. This happens a lot more often in stop-start traffic than when cruising on a highway.
I bet it drops a bit when the new Tullamarine Freeway interchange opens on feb-24, the run home in the evening is always murder.

Apart from 1 litre early on, all of the oil has been added by Subaru Glen Waverley. Luckily they are a ten minute drive from work. That way I'm not paying for any of it, and they have a log of all the oil that it is getting...

Latest update, after my 25,000km service, they've cancelled the extra 2,000km test, and have applied to Subaru Australia to do a short-engine swap ASAP...

Wouldn't it be good if they also let you run the clock back on the odometer.

Now you have to go through the whole run in again.

there already run in by the time you get them..
