Supercharging H6

Just checking to see if anyone had heard anything yet, or know of a supercharging kit yet available for the 3r at all as the topic has died off?

Was trying to find out, even a little one to increase 50kw would be nice, enough to fill the lag down low, thats all.

I found this pic on the net.

This was done to a Tribeca by a mob Called Cobb

LOL! Guess you haven't been on the forums for a while. Check out DeMobBoss's 3.0. He's chucked on a twin turbo rather than a supercharger though, but it's along the same lines of forced induction.

Cobb Tuning in Salt Lake City did that a couple of years ago but it was a show car only. 50 kw atw increase is not what I would describe as small either.

I know I know its been a while.

I was happy with the car for a while, then I started to miss Horse power and was starting to wonder, Maybe I should have kept my old rex and tip cash in to that on a bullet proof rebuild and saved the rest of the cash.

I like the car but what I dont like in the auto is

a) when u put your foot down there is a massive pause before anything happens

b) lack of torque down low

apart from that Im happy If I could only fix the above problems.

Or maybe I should have bought a Stagea wagon and tip about 15 into that, that would have been fun I guess.

Does anyone have any ideas how to fix these little probs with the Liberty down low and the auto?

What have you done so far, Egg? I reckon catback exhaust combined with a pod filter should help a bit with the throttle response. If you want to go all out throw in headers. Then a tune should iron out some more kinks.

The only thing I have done to the car is a set of Genome Sti mufflers, thats it.

Arith, as Phat mentioned to you (and you passed on to the froum) a while ago, a cat back on the N/A 3.0 isn't really going to help the low/midrange. If anything, the slower gas flow could be detrimental to that area. It'd probably improve top end a bit though..

Take the quads I got for example. If anything I reckon I've lost a little bit in the mid range over the stockers. It'd only be in the range of 1 or 2% but it was noticeable when I changed them over a month ago.

I know re the cat back exhaust, thats why Im not really sure what you can do to these motors, I dont think you can really do much at all.

Thats why I thought maybe a little supercharger with minimal boost may do the trick without spending a bucket load.

Or maybe one of the V tunes at docklands maybe.

I capped myself by buyinga six so I couldnt modify it, so I guess that worked, coz I knew if I bought the turbo model it would have been stock for about 2 days.

So damn x2.

A good tune will release a bit from the engine. Should be a very noticeable difference in driveability from everything I have read. Vin at STi Docklands does a good job. Being Subaru he will still err on the conservative side so you probably won't see the ultimate improvement others might net you.

The throttle delay you speak of is to do with the drive by wire map in your ecu. From what I understand Docklands can rectify this with their $300 V-tune.

Those who have done it seem happy with the results.

Seeing you are in Melbourne $300 is good value in IMHO.

Although I'm not fortunate to have the V-Tune done to my Lib, a workmate who was visiting Melbourne last year had his 3.0R-B done and like many others before him, sing the praises for Vin at Stocklands.

Definately great value - wish I had a reason to drive to Melbourne. Better still, wish there was someone Brisbane who could perform this sort of tune.

Heh-heh. Not a catback that was designed around the turbo. :D The larger pipe diameter will do the reverse for a N/A. My suggestion was a catback in line with the N/A, where pipe diameter is pretty much the same as stock. That way you retain the high velocity of the exit gases. But you also get rid of the restrictive mufflers along wih that huge centre muffler.

pretty much what I had written to post but decided I'd take it out to avoid getting into an argument because I haven't done any testing and didn't have anything to back it up with

Many eons ago I spent hundreds customising my exhaust system for a Honda Legend I used to own that had a 3.2 litre V6. Painful and time consuming experience I would not wish upon anyone. :?

i can tell you for a fact that smaller pipes on an ez30r are a power restriction...

i had my car tuned with a 2.25 inch exhaust (with 2 inch mufflers) and it made 122kwatw...

then had it retuned for a 2.5 inch exhaust (with 2.5 inch mufflers) and it now makes 143kwatw... (and does the quarter in 14.3)

though mine is in a gen2, and running an aftermarket computer, it still shows what a difference the bigger pipe makes...
