If you have ever wondered what you 3.0lt engine looks like on the inside then have a look at the link below. Also on page 16 there is a comparison of conrods of Sti, Wrx and H6. Seems the 3.0 has the weakest of them all.

THE ENGINE

There are many things about this engine that are very cool. Just looking at the specs doesn't do it justice. 3.0L, 6 cylinders, DOHC, AVCS, AVLS, 250HP in stock form, aluminum block, forged steel crank, chain driven cams, and only .700" longer than an EJ20! Did I mention 3 point zero liters! Being familiar with the 4 bangers, the first thing that I was interested in seeing was how the Variable lift worked. The cams are the first strange thing you see as each valve has 3 lobes. One central lobe for the low lift and 2 outer ones for high lift, longer duration. The bucket is where the magic happens. There is an inner and outer piston that rubs on both cam lobes all time. When the solenoid allows oil pressure to shoot through the oil gallery, it locks the inner piston to the outer piston/bucket, and bam, new cam profile. I have to say this is probably the coolest part of the engine. Word is this is a co-developed technology from Porsche and Subaru, sure enough the parts are made in Germany.

I like the bit at the conclusion. "Bye bye boxer rumble. Hello boxer smoothie"

I wonder if they have any plans to supply a kit :D

true but there are a few replicas these days running around.

check this out guys...

2x Gt35r's plus a AMG clutched supercharger. Aparently it does 435 Whp at the wheels.

runs a C32 AMG blower then the turbos cut in at 4,500 rpm running 20 odd boost

flat 11's and lights all 4 wheels up no problems before the turbo's cut in......o_o

an engineering masterpiece...

Pure Genius

Yeah that freaky valve gearing, its pure genius. Some Aussie combie mechanic thought of it too but when he went to the cpoyright office, turned out, Porsche had thought of it first.
As for the write up - its pretty thorough and needless to say I've studied it more than a few times before I embarked on the double whammy version myself.
I've seen the insides of a H6 on a shortblock and the stock conrods in the H6 are less stockier than any H4 because there are two more of them in the H6 so each individual conrod handles almost 10% less power than those in the H4. But, of course with HPTurbocharging they probably won't handle anything past 8-10psi.
The block itself has a surprising amount of robustness over-engineered into it.
Will post some photos and write-up of our build on here one day.

Hohoooooly Sheeeeyat that thing is a freakin' wild animal!!! Damn!!! Awesome, but still doesn't make sense to me why you'd go to the trouble of cannibalising an MB supercharger to overcome all that lag all the way upto 4500rpm (apart from the fact that it would sound soooo cooool) - why not just use two smaller turbos instead of one giant ball bearing one  (Sorry couldn't resist). BTW he only talks about one GT35r not two:?:
I'd love to hear this thing tick over and take off. Doeas anyone know of any followup videos?

Hold on a minute!!! Thats NOT A H6 AT ALL!!! Why is it even mentioned in this topic.
Damn I actually thought it was a H6 before I saw those photographs - how disappointing...
Still, a fascinating build but, completely out of place here when we are talking about the Perrin H6T build...
