2007 3.0R Spec B engine compatibility

Postby uditha2008 » Fri Oct 06, 2023 8:49 am

Hi all,
Can I know if H6 engine of a 2005 or 2006 Liberty can be put into a 2007 H6 Spec.B?

I'm looking for a engine to replace the exisiting one as I'm on a low budget to get the full repair done.
I'm looking at two cars. One is a 2006 (non Spec. B) - VIN JF1BLEKU56G023052. The other one is a 2005 (non Spec. B) - VIN JF1BLEKU56G020147.

Can we identify differences by looking at the VIN or engine number?

VIN of my car is JF1BLEKU58G036752.

Thank you.

As per my reply on FB, the aim is to retain your engine harness, sensors and controls and swap them over to your replacement long block.
In some swaps this might include items such as the intake manifold, so if you’re unsure, you can check compatibility using a VIN search on eg Partsouq website for the respective donor and patient cars.
Depending on the mileage of the donor, you might take the opportunity to refresh various seals and gaskets which will be easier to access with the engine out.
