Clutch for 3.0 6MT

Postby gui67 » Sat Mar 04, 2023 11:21 pm

Hello,
I consider replacing the clutch in my 05 Spec-B 6MT. The car has 327000km. I don't know if it has already been changed or if it is still the original clutch.
the part numbers are :
disc: 30100AA930
pressure plate: 30210AA681
clutch release bearing: 30502AA130
bearing: 8062112020
flywheel: 12310AA350

The kit from Exedy seems to be FJK7737.

I could get parts locally (in France) from a Impreza STI 2.0 or 2.5: 30100AA920 or 910 instead of 930.
and 30210AA670 or 610 instead of 681.
(bearing and clutch release bearing are the same)
Are the parts different, is it possible to use them instead of the PN for 3.0?
same for the exedy kit: 7737 seems more difficult to get as FJK2027 for example. are both compatible or is the only option the 7737? I can see on other topics that the FJK 8658 seems to be compatible with STI and spec B... I am a bit lost
And is it worth changing the flywheel or not at this point?

thanks a lot for your answers
Guillaume

If you peruse any 6mt clutch swap questions here, it’s always the same point:
As stock, all 6mt cars had either a 240 or 230mm pull clutch and the matching flywheel:
and you don’t get to find out which it is until the gearbox is separated from the engine.

As such you’re fine to get an exedy stock or hd 6mt pull clutch and matching flywheel probably in 240mm.

Lightweight flywheels are ok, but there’s nothing at all wrong with the stock weight unit, since Subaru engines already have one of the lightest cranks available on a passenger car.
Same for lightweight pulleys, not at all required. I went for a lifetime use ej Fluidampr which also fits the H6.

Other nice things are a braided clutch hose, ARP flywheel bolts, CorgiWerx shifter knuckle, short shifter and all the bushings, shave a thou from your reverse switch washer and or replace it and shave it.

Be sure to lookup tips for flywheel bolt torque or if eg locktite is required: you don’t want those backing out.
Make sure the baffle under the front of the box isn’t rubbing, they bend easily.

I did a keyword search of this forum to refresh my memory on the subject, like this:
