Yesterday the lib started making this screeching noise, and then it experienced a lot of power loss. It's also using insane amounts of fuel - 50L/100km out of no where. At first I thought maybe it was the brakes but I think it might be drive train because it's always screeching. Any ideas?

I’d say you need to check your accessory belts asap.
Alternator belt might be slipping.
A snapped accessory belt can lunch your engine.

From where does said screechine noice eminate?
Is it all the time like when stationary or does it start only when moving?
Is it related to vehicle speed?

As you are mentioning "Brakes" then maybe it is only when moving and related to road speed?

The brake pads have a wear limit stylus that with contact the dics and squeal when the barke pad thickness limit is reached.
This will make an umpleasant sound but should not effect fuel ecomomy.

A disintegrating centre diff will catch pices of broken metal between the gearbox case and the roatating viscous ciupling and sound terrible and increase drag on teh driveline.

But, no diagnosis can be performed over the intereweb.

If the brakes were binding badly enough to causing loss of power and using " 50L per 100klm " I would suspect there would be a terrible smell and smoke coming from a wheel !!!
