Recommend me an octane booster

Does anyone have any experience using octane booster to stop knock and get the IAM up? I'm running on 98 petrol, it still knocks and the IAM is very very low and it pulls all the timing out. Wondering about using some octane booster to see if raising the octane will stop it knocking and bring the IAM up?

What brand octane booster did you use?

Did you mix it as per the instructions or some other ratio?

I've used the repco 7.0 had some success but didn't want to keep putting it in the fuel system.

Ethanol, mixed about 85:15 with petrol.

No knock issues :P

85% Ethanol and 15% petrol? that's E85 right? Didn't think our cars could run that?

I was being facetious.

Our cars can be converted to run on E85, but you are correct that "just filling up on E85 one day" is not a good plan.

Conversion can involve bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump, different fuel lines and a tune to suit. Opinions differ on what can be dropped from that list, but the tune is essential. Catch cans are also a very good idea on account of all the extra water vapour that ends up in the crank case.

E85 is a very knock-resistant fuel, allowing more power through better ignition timing and more boost - hence its popularity.

Yes I was reading the other thread on here where lots of people have Kido tunes to run E85 or flexi tunes for E85 and 98/100/whatever for their 3.0 H6. But there also seem to be a worrying amount of engine blowups.......

I can't even get E85 close to me, the nearest one is miles away, there are only 8 E85 outlets in the whole Perth metropolitan area. I might try some octane booster and see what happens.
