Hi folks,

Am a couple of months away from needing new tyres on my MY05 Spec.B and am starting the research. As its an odd (ish) rim size (215/45 - 18), can anyone suggest tyres they are using and what they paid for them.

I was looking forward to putting on Michelin Pilot Sports but that don't seem to come in that size. Nor do the new Bridgestone Adrenalins.

Is it possible to fit 225's? What are the downsides?

In the OEM size your options seem to be the Potenzo 050A's the car came with, Pirelli P Zero Rosso's (and Nero's too I think) and Yokohama Advan Sports (V103 - the A10A has received some average reviews around the place, is priced similarly to the V103 and the Yokohama rep I spoke to recently steered me to the V103 as their flagship tyre).

I ended up going with the Yoko Advan V103 and am pretty happy with them. Seem to have pretty good grip (though haven't gotten onto a good driving road the hammer them yet), particularly in the wet and ride pretty well even at the higher pressure I was advised to use in these particular tyres

Pricewise, I was quoted similar prices for the Rosso's and V103's ($380 before calling around on the V103's and getting $345) while the 050A's were around $450 per tyre

Yeah - its got P-Zero rosso's on it at the moment. Whats the difference between the Rosso and Nero? (Red or Black?)

The P-Zero Rosso's are more expensive but geared more towards riding comfort. Still a performer but the Nero's are a bit better for grip and handling. Also a bit more feel of the road IMO. A tad stiffer ride but still quite comfortable.

Has anyone fitted 225's? I noticed on Michelin's website that their 225 can be used from a 7 - 7.5 inch rim. (Obviously the RB being a 7)

Hankooks have tyres in this odd rim size. i got the K110. $240 a tyre. I've only replaced the spare for now, cos it got punctured beyond repair. I'll be getting a full set in a few months time.

Yep, I'm running 225/40's on my Spec B rims (7 inch).

My advice, try to stick to the OEM tyre size if you can. As mine is an MY06, going up to the 18's ment I had to change the profile to keep more or less the same rolling radious.

Just for the record... 225's will fit on even an 8.5 inch rim... Just ask Mr Arith about that one

Sizes that fit all Liberty SpecB (3.0R-B and GT) stock 18" rims are:

- 215/45/18 - OEM size
- 225/40/18 - Rolling diameter is marginally smaller than OEM size, but well within legal limits.

The hankooks that were on mine when I bought it were woeful in the wet.

Depends on which Hankooks, the K104 is rubbish. K110 is what I have on mine and I'm quite happy with them too.

I had the R-S2 (Z212) in the past, very good grip, but not what you'd call a comfort tyre, nor a long-lasting one either.

Can 225/45/18's not be used on the 3.0RB 7 inch rim?
