Power Steering Leak

Postby Hutchy » Sat Sep 01, 2018 9:56 am

Apologies if this is a well worn question, but I have done my searches and not seen an answer to my specific question/issue.

I have 2007 3.0R Spec B sedan and have noticed that the fluid level has gone down and I am seeing some fluid spilt on the block behind the pump. Obviously it is leaking, but I can't see that its coming from any of the hoses.

It will be heading in for a 120k service soon and it's probably something I won't have the time to fix. So before I get a course of action from my mech, what's the most common issues with these pumps that you have experienced?

Many thanks in advance!

Its an imperative sanity check to make sure the strainer in the PS fluid bottle isn't blocked.
The o ring on top of the pump is usually the first to leak, fluid out or air in.

Try a site-specific search with relevant keywords, you didn't provide details of the symptoms other than low fluid level.
If what's left is a clear cherry red then top it up. If not, new fluid and bleed (check that strainer too).
Corgiwerks rebuilds pumps and might provide consultation on your issues as well...
