Coolant options

Postby Tresidder17 » Mon Dec 11, 2017 6:20 pm

Hey guys,

I've owned my MY07 3.0R spec.B liberty for a few months now and am in process of slowly replacing all the fluids so i know everything is up to date. I've had a look around and haven't found much discussion on what coolant to run in the car.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Products that can be purchased from Supercheap Auto would be best as i can get them heavily discounted.

Thanks

Any quality coolant is fine. It's basically glorified water, and you're not running a race car.
Running no. of weeks without breaking something in the lib: 0
No. of things still to fix in in the lib: 97

I would go with nulon over the subaru coolant.
And then I'd just change it more often then the manual states.

Fresh coolant is important. Not so much the brand.

I bought a premium green nulon coolant the other day. Purchased 2 6L bottles as the fsm states the coolant capacity is over 7L.

Drained the old coolant into a bucket and could only get just over 5L out of the system. However, the old coolant looked to be in great condition and reasonably new so it wasn't worth worrying about and i added the new coolant. Have driven a couple hundred Ks already and engine temps are staying steady so all is good.

Buying the second bottle of coolant seems like a bit of a waste but i've already found other uses for it and owning too much coolant is better than not having enough :D
