Why a 3RB?

Postby WhiteGTB » Wed Oct 29, 2008 7:54 am

I'm interested to know why us guys bought the H6 variant of the Subaru Liberty.....

Not that there is much difference in the price and basically the features are the same as our GT brothers.

Was it due to insurance? Restrictions for P drivers? Drivability? Fuel efficiency (in which case you got it totally wrong)?

Just curious to know :)

I better answer my own questions...

1. Didn't want to mod too much, knew that if I got a turbo.... then pretty soon, it would have a bigger TMIC or a FMIC, upgraded turbo... etc.. etc..
2. Drivability.... def. a cruising car, a few test drives and I was hooked.
3. Previously had a Lib GT so wanted something different.
4. Torque delivery throughout the rev range.
5. Didn't want the Turbo stigma no more :)

P plate restrictions? Haha, don't think many P platers can afford a 3.0RB. I think I'm pretty safe in saying I'm the youngest Gen IV owner here on these forums. Feel free to prove me wrong though. :P

And in terms of fun-factor. How does it 3.0 stack up against the GT's?

?

I had p-plate restrictions. I didnt really look into the 3.0 much because i saw the fuel consumption figure. Fuel consumption for a the 2.5 was apparently better then the 2.0R on the subaru brochure. I was 17 when i got my MY07 and now im 19.

yeah, went the H6 over the GT mainly for insurance. Being 28 I wasn't keen on bashing my head against the insurance brick walls. Also have been a bit more inclined towards NA engines anyway. Cost for an equivalent GTB also seemed to be higher when I was looking

Was originally looking at a 2.5 but saw this spec B for only a bit over the budget I was limiting myself to and decided it was well worth stretching just that little bit more. Very happy with my choice

I thought it was only the original GT's (EJ20T) that needed to run 98?

Subaru have a thing on their wall that says the new GT, WRX's etc (That run the EJ25) have all their power figures etc based on 95 RON.

Off topic a little sorry, but to answer swingn's query, when I filled up this morning I noticed a sticker on the fuel flap that said it needed to run 98. I'll double check it this arvo.

Yeah, my fuel flap has that disclaimer as well. But the dealership told me to ignore that and that it is indeed safe on 95. . Probably not as efficient as 98 but do-able.

owww big love <3 T-man

Got it when i was 19, 20 now.. (no im not rich) but i worked hard for that bugger, i dont know how i saved with everything else i bought + going out and spending moneys, but i did it woo-hoo!

Well you know it Trieu, I always had my heart set on a Spec b, due to it having the whole package.. Plus (P) - Plater Restrictions..
Parents were quite happy not being a SUPA DOOPA FULLY SHICK doof doof car, because they are aware of subaru's = safety!
I had a budget.. don't go over anything that would put me in the "Luxury Car Owner Tax"...

I always wanted a Lib STI, if i keep working hard i might
be mooving on to porsches! :D

But i got my quad tip exhausts now, so its a porsche in my own mind!
Isn't that right Trieu, we sorta got porsche's now ahaha!

I bought a mY07 black 3rb becuse I loved the sound and the linear acceleration. I'm a property valuer and I get to tax deduct my vehicle so basically i could have whatever i wanted. The other day my curiosity got the better of me and I test drove a liberty sti. Now i know it has a sh*t load of grunt but it starts off with nothing and then power cuts in whiplash style. in my books that's not cool. And it doesn't have that flat 6 growl! I do think the 3rb could use another 30nm or so of torque but then what car wouldn't? I live in Adelaide and I'm thinking of getting Ecutek from S & J Automotive. I really want to get new boxes and quad tips does any one have a suggestion? I don't care how much it costs. I've been recomended Junbl.
