High fueltrim at idle (Liberty 3.0R 2005)

Postby Mariano » Wed Apr 26, 2017 8:51 pm

No fault codes but long term fuel trims keep rising at idle. 15min @ idle bank1 ltft +20 and bank2 +8, stfueltrims +0.7-1.5 both banks. This could indicate vacuum leak but I cant find any. When driving normally ltft are wihting spec about +3-5. O2 sensors are working normal at +1500rpm (0.2-0.9v) but at idle they keep constant voltage and does not change rapidly.

Maf sensor reads normal voltage at idle and has 3,7g/s. At wot max 207g/s, is this normal?

Car has some low end hesitation and is a bit sluggish. Also cold idle is rough before 02 sensors starts working, like slight misfire type sound. I think car has original maf and O2 sensors but spark plugs are new. Maybe I need new MAF? It has been cleaned thoung..

I dont have learning view. Just regular code reader and torque+bluetooth reader.

Car has new MAF now and car pulls better but fuel trims are the same. Made some 02 sensor graphs from live data. Looks like voltage doesn`t fluctuate at all when idle, voltage reads 0.7-0.8 and very minor change. +1500rpms voltage starts to change, mainly between 0.3-0.7v. Bank1 looks better witch is right side where number 1 cylinder is? Bank2 looks very wierd and slow. Both sensors more on rich side. Maybe need new lambda sensors because I think these are original ones with 200k kms on them.

Both lambda sensors has been changed to Denso units like the originals. Still high fuel trims but its little better. Has anybody had issues with leaking injector o-rings, intake manifold gaskets or exhaust manifold gaskets? I could not find leak anywhere. 2.5t engine has problems with intake manifold gaskets, does ez30 has same problem? It is not turbo engine but i think gasket desing is the same.

Hey mate, I had this problem a couple of years ago when i upgraded injectors. Either one side has a broken leaky injector or a clogged up injector. I had 2 spare injectors so i just switched them out one at a time until I found the culprit. Maybe this could be your problem as well. Any ways good luck.

How many km´s did you have before injectors went bad? My car has now 200k km and has new fuel filter. I think there is least one clogged injector on bank2. Sometimes idle is bad when cold, almost like one cylinder misfiring but it goes away when engine warms up. Also some hesitation when accelerating cold engine. When warm everything is fine except fueltrim. So problem is not big but I want make everything working right before ecu tune. I used several fuel injector cleaners before. New injector are too expensive so need to recondition these.

I only did about 10-15K of driving before it died. Didn't really notice anything until my tuner pointed it out. But since then I've put on another 40K of driving and everything is still fine.

Service the injectors with a specialist if you think they have issues, they still have plenty life left in them at 200k km

I cleaned injectors with carb cleaner and ultrasonic cleaner. Number got better about 1-2 units. After driving more after lambda change, I think main fault was lambda sensor. I got now +7 on bank 1 and -3.0 on bank 2. Theres still slight hesitation when cold. Warn engine wot acceleration is wierd, like holding back and then suddenly go, sometimes it works ok. Maybe fuel pump is worn out. :?
