Hi All,

Browsing forum and found the previous posts relating to this.

My mechanics found a very small leak from the timing chain cover, about a teaspoons worth, on the log book service before last.
Took in to the Subaru dealer who carried out a warranty repair by application of more sealant.
On most recent log book service, have 18,500 kms on the clock, same small leaking still presents
Am returning to the dealer for a warranty follow up

Just seeking a o

Sounds like it needs to go back into the dealer to be sealed again.

Not a huge problem if a small leak, but that could turn into a big leak later on.

The timing chain should still be lubed ok. The leak might just cause you to go through more oil and mean more frequent checking which is annoying.

Indeed, annoying considering you spend a fair amount on a brand spanker with an engine (which is supposed to be the star of a car) and which has been around for a while now, albeit now hooked up to a CVT.

My fingers are crossed it might be just oil over splash on this occasion and the sealant is OK, though my private mechanic is fairly fastidious with his work so its back to the dealership I go.

Agree, as long as the dealership think it should not develop into a major leak down the track provided I keep my eye on it, then I can live with it, but then the dealer/Subaru can say this of course as they only have to do the bare minimum necessary to see out the remaining new car warranty I suppose.

An indicator to look ahead maybe to the next Gen Lib which is odds on to be either a 2.0 or 2.5 DI turbo (rather than the 2nd upgrade for the current gen/same engine due in 2018)

Thanks for your reply Surge

Cheers

I have same year car

No leaks, maybe they need to remove cover and reseal it
