Hi,

Have any of you guys on here had the mounting bracket where the oil filter screws onto leak?

Im assuming it would just be a seal but is it? and if so is it hard to take off?

Regards in advance

Are you referring to between the Oil Cooler and the Engine Block?
The is a replaceable seal located their.

I assumed it was an oil cooler but wasn't 100percent sure.

Is it hard to change the seal?

is it common from there to weep from there?

Common enough.
Easy to change thou. Oil filter off, then undo the union holding the cooler to the block (#2, what the filter screws on to), then replace the seal (#4).
The coolant hoses should have enough slack to wiggle around to change it.
Can't remember what size socket it is thou.

Glad to hear its just a bolt that holds it on, just need to try and change it without breaking anything.

I'm assuming cleaning the surface with some brake cleaner is all that it needs on the surface?

Noticed it leaking on the last service so hoping it will hold out for a few 1000kms, was only a slight weep so wasn't pouring out which is hopefully a good sign.

Really common for these to leak, mines leaking a bit (few drops on the driveway each day)
From what I see it's a 24mm deep socket and then clean the area with brake clean and put the seal in dry and make sure t doesn't slip out of the groove.

I'll be doing and oil change at the same time considering filter comes off and will be losing maybe 1L of oil

Glad to head its not a very uncommon problem. It seems to be a very slow leak. So figured Ill fix it at my next service.

I might have to look at replacing the seals on the power steering pump since they look like they are sweating a little.

Mine issue i have is a whining noise at 100km but it makes noise unloaded not loaded.

Whining power steering could also be air in the system, but if you need to change out the "O" ring seal that is also very common on these, nothing major but bleeding the system properly is a must :) Other things to check for the whining noise are idle pulley bearings, there are a couple of them there which are also prone to failing, again easy DIY :)
