Headers for 3.0R... GB

Postby MIB » Thu Sep 25, 2008 10:05 am

For anyone that's looked at the Dump Pipe thread in the Vendors for sale, I asked Phat man about doing headers to get the 3.0R breathing a bit better... He responded that he would do them but would need 5 orders and a car for 3 days... I'd offer mine but it's in the wrong city.
Anyone else interested in releasing some more form the H6? I have heard a 3.0 with custom headers and it sounds a bit like a boxer motor from that German rear engined marque. Cost still needs to be determined based on interest... the dump pipes run $800.

The quality of the Phat's work looks exceptional, I'm sure this part would be just as good, not to mention a rare performance bolt on for the 3.0

A pic of one of the 2.5 dump, pipes are mild steel with internal and external ceramic coating.

I wonder how nice would the H6 sound with the header, but would you get any performance gain from it?

Cool, we just need 2 more and a car to use as mule. I may be able to spend a long weekend in Sydney, but not for a month or so... If anyone in Syd is keen let us know.

From what I understand of the 3.0, there is not an awful lot more to gain from it, it's not turbo so you can't just run more boost, it comes back to the old, more air in, more air out=more power. That said, the rest of the exhaust doesn't seem to be the slow point as all research shows the exhaust of the 2.5 to flow well (and unless I am mistaken, they run pretty much the same exhaust from cat back) so headers are the next area that 'could' be a hold up.

I'll do it just for a deeper sound 8) Phat may have more of an idea of what the gains will be, both performance and aural?

I might be interested in headers, but it depends what they are and how much. Will they have equal length primaries, and what will this length be?

I'd be interested but I m in Adelaide. I have a MY07 3rb and would love to get more growl out of it but it needs to be linear and tasteful not boomy and budget sounding and deafen you in the cabin.

3.0 Headers

Postby MH3.0R » Thu Jan 29, 2009 8:47 pm

Well it has gone quiet on the 3.0 headers.

I am looking for a new mod after scimping and saving my monthly allowance. If it is less than $800, I am in.

Any other committed mod freaks out there waiting for their 2009 fix!

Kind Regards,

Mark.
