Hey guys,

So my 2006 3.0R Liberty has cracked a head gasket and I am in need of a rebuild or a replacement engine.

I'm going to take the replacement route and need an engine!

I'm located in Sydney, NSW however I'm happy to travel for the right engine.

Just looking for a direct replacement or possibly considering the 3.6 from a Tribeca, who knows....

If anyone has an engine for sale that I may be interested in shoot me a PM as my car cannot pass rego in its current state.

Im cool with out of the box ideas to guys if anyone has any other engines that could be of use let me know.

Call the guys at Autocraft in Gateshead for the work. Get Ultimate Subaru Spares in Hobart to send up an engine for a lot less than that price ;)

ADS are still stuffing one guy around on a stock H6 build/stock tune

Has anybody done a costing on rebuilding the H6 after a blown head gasket? Surely a rebuilt engine is going to give piece of mind when it comes to reliability especially with some of those prices quoted for a second hand unit. At least you know how many kilometres your own unit has done as opposed to an Ebay/import engine. Lets face it an early H6 with less than 100,000 kilometres on it are going to be pretty rare and some engines at that mileage have been treated badly for those miles.

Without going to extremes in after market go fast bits what would a rebuilt H6 cost?

I have contacted two engine rebuild kit suppliers in the USA for a kit for these engines.
So for both have advised they do not carry a kit.
So, thus far, a convenient rebuild kit has not been located?

Still looking!

The last time I was in the USA on business, I picked up an engine rebuild kit for junior's EJ25 and brought it back.
Was less than $500 of those AU dollars.
I ordered the kit with +0.50mm pistons and -0.25mm bearings

Came back and had Junior's engine REMANUFACTURED with bore and regrind. That cost $450
The engine probably did not need it, however the engine was REMANUFACURED.

The rebuild cost around $1,000 to $1,100 plus my time.

So, I am aiming to locate a similar kit for the EZ-3.0R
I will keep looking.

For $5850 not installed that's a nice little earner

Hey BillyCorgi,

If you happen to find anything let me know, cant current register the car due to the leak and really need to get it back on the road.

I agree its a huge price but at this point i dont see any other option other than replace with an equally old/worn engine.

cheers for the info by the way much appreciated.

The ebay engine on the central cost is still available.
The seller is a forum member.
Why not make an offer?

I was thinking about it but it has the same kms as my current engine so I could just get mine rebuilt instead of buying a second hand engine.

However no one sells a rebuild kit for this engine anywhere so I'm really not sure what to do. ADS have a remanufactured one ready to go that is the only reason I'm thinking about just paying the money.

I'm not a massive engine nerd but do you recon this site might help me source a rebuild kit?
