H6 engine replacement

Hey Guys,

So after investigation, turns out Head Gasket (2004 auto liberty 3.0R) is cracked and needs replacement, but it seems more cost effective to just replace the engine with a low KM second hand engine rather than pay for labor costs associated with Head Gasket replacement (i don't have the know how or tools to do it myself).

Has anyone done this before? Can anyone recommend me a place to get it done at?

I've been quoted $2750 + $999 labour to get a replacement H6 with 100,000km on it, seems like a good option.

Cheers

The costs quoted are what I found to be same for the gasket replacement.

You would want to get a very low km motor otherwise you are getting a motor that's getting close to needing a gasket repair

Hey guys

Sad to hear about your engine mate.

If it makes you feel better i am currently in the same boat (cracked head gasket) on my 2006 3.0R

spoke to a mechanic that has done the swap recently and he recons it would be around 2000 for the engine and around 1200 for install (baring in mind this all depends on what else is needed) however this seemed like a good price to me although i still need to source a replacement engine as he was not able to supply one.

anyone have a low KM's engine available hit me up with a PM with KM's and condition.

but 100,000km's is a bit high I'd aim for more like 50,000km or less if you can find it.
