Or just take it to Phil Lowe, in Melbourne :)

He's been building H6s and EJs for a long time and knows exactly what they need for whatever particular goal the customer has. Better value for money, faster and you drive in, drive out.

Hey guys, Phil is an engine builder based in Bentleigh East, in Melbourne. He specialises in Subaru engines, whether they're 4cyl EJs or the H6 EZs - he's built some real monsters out of both types. A quick google search of "Phil Lowe engines" will bring up some past customers (a few on this very forum, if you haven't already seen).

He can do the more basic jobs like replacing head gaskets, installing stronger studs and trouble shooting your setup (whether for mechanical or tuning issues) to prevent future failures.

His speciality are fully 'built' setups, i.e. closed deck, forged internals, ported heads and bigger cams, big turbos etc. He also builds the occasional plane engine and gearbox.

If you're after forged internals, I wouldn't see anyone else but Phil - not Deshele or any Cosworth dealer, even though both of those would otherwise be fantastic options.

In my opinion, we're very lucky to have someone in Melbourne with the the amount of experience and knowledge that Phil has. He knows which setups work and which don't and this can save a potential customer (and has saved, for myself and others) - a lot of time, money and potentially having to regret having a car that sounds great on the internet, but isn't much fun to drive. He's built plenty of both - track cars and fast street cars, and knows in detail what makes each great.

From my own experience - his job turnaround is quick by engine building standards, competitive price, no-nonsense approach to his work and happy to chat and explain what he's doing, why or why not etc.

If anyone would like Phil's number, please ask by PM, and I'll happily pass it over. :)
