So someone clear this up for me. Are the engine covers actually useful to cooling at all? Or purely cosmetic? I've heard both arguments but honestly it seems like just a piece of plastic for show to me.

Never ran one on my H6, same with the under tray. Never noticed any issues with cooling etc.

I run the engine cover on my GT as it actually seals the scoop against the factory TMIC.

Seriously though, a bit of Googling revealed that noise reduction, and aesthetics were the main reasons for them.

The Liberty is a nice quiet car with a lot of research having gone into noise reduction so it wouldn't surprise me if that was the primary purpose.

Thinking of scrapping my under the engine oil Catch tray as I swear it's just turning the engine bay into an oven. Can't wait til the weekend to service the car and rid of that then see if I notice better temps. At the moment as soon as I open the doors with the car on, radiator just blows hot air at my feet

covers the tmic, bov and 3 port?

No, the turtle shell is just for looks. On the turbo models it's needed as said above but on the H6 no.

Underbody trays are for keeping water splash away from the engine, also aids in the aerodynamics if you can go that fast to reduce drag. Get rid of it, makes oil changes a hell of a lot easier and if you do get an oil leak it's quicker to isolate it.

I know it's New oil and going from Castro edge 5w-30 to penrite 5w-40 but I swear engines been cooler or at least might seem that way due to hot air not being forced out only on sides from when the coolant fans is on
