Bought a brand new 3.0 crank for the next engine build for £160, main reason being that my existing crank is of an unknown age and mileage. The standard cranks can take a lot of abuse without any additional work.

Have now found a machine shop very close to where I live that has a lot of Subaru experience. Going to visit them in the next few weeks to discuss requirements. Got a bit sided tracked with sorting out a replacement sc unit which may well kill off the existing engine and thereby speed up the need for engine number 4.

Good luck!
You deserve the next one to be a beautifully sorted built motor.
CURRENT - ATP GTX 3576 - 22psi - 283.7awkw
OLD - Dom 1.5Xtr - Last dyno 254ahkw, previous 238ahkw, first 224awkw.

This is going to be awesome!

Please do equal length turbo manifold if you can be bothered to put in the extra work!! It will keep the amazing exhaust note the EZ30 has stock.

I have seen a couple turbo ez30 builds in real life with unequal length manifolds and they all end up sounding like commodore v6s. A perfect example is the supergramps ez36, Turbo Yoda made an awesome manifold for it but it's not equal length, and while it still sounds gnarly it just loses that awesome porsche like sound!

ok so the block has been closed and is now with the next machine shop so we will see what they have to say once they have measured it up.

Is that enough coolant flow......

Good point, will have to offer up a head gasket and see whats what. It will be with engineering firm for a while yet so plenty of time to check it out.

Been a bit distracted with sorting the new sc setup.

I did speak to machine shop yesterday about pistons. They are going to do the first phase on the bores to make sure they are round and then decide on overall size of the piston.

What I need to do is get the new sc setup running because if that delivers the goods in terms of power then this new engine will be built to enhance the sc. If however the sc does not deliver then the next engine will be built to run turbos so a different compression ratio will be required.

Been a bit quiet on this but as the current setup has been kind of sorted. I have instructed the engine shop to set the compression ratio to 9.5:1 instead of the the standard 10.7:1. This will enable more timing to be used without hopefully comprimising engine response. Going to be using Pauter conrods this time and ARP head studs as the current engine is using water and oil in equal quantities. The plan is to build an engine capable of with standing 600bhp+

With the new engine I will run a FMIC and larger injectors and MAF tube and possibly water and meth injection.

Rotrex are meant to be developing the C38R supercharger which can devliver upto 900bhp. Having spoken to them the main issue for my engine is that the sc will use a 10pk pulley which on my engine would mean having to have the crank pulley and every other pulley being remade to run with a 10pk belt.
