3.0R Clutch question Impreza STI swap

Postby McDoof » Mon Dec 07, 2015 11:52 am

Just a possible stupid question.
Can I put an Impreza STI 6 speed clutch and flywheel combo into my H6 3.0R without any modifications? Same combo from a 2008 GR Series STI.
The reason I ask is that I can get a decent new clutch with a new flywheel for bloody cheap and I need a new clutch.

I think so, however the clutch friction plate may be 230mm diameter instead of the 240mm for the H6?
But do more checking.
Ask the vendor what is the friction plate diameter!

The specs are the same
240mm outer
160mm inner
272mm Pitch circle

So on paper they look the same.

If the recess is the same height, then you have a "go" project.
Do you need a centre diff, too?? LOL

Comes with a matching flywheel so I assume the recess should be OK

Pretty sure my 30RB is running a STi clutch.

TBH I don't like it much as the pedal effort seems a bit high. Time will tell if it lasts any longer than a std one.

I fitted a std clutch to a MY08 GT-B last week and the pedal was oh so light!

Good point actually. Light pedal is a must.
