Engine light flashing momentarily then disappearing...

Postby Berty3.0RB » Thu Dec 03, 2015 7:32 am

Hey guys! Just wondering if anyone on here has experienced this before and if someone could maybe shed some light on the issue...

I have a MY07 3.0R spec b (6MT) and was cruising down the freeway yesterday at about 80km/h in 6th, and my check engine light decided to flash on and off for about 10 seconds. My SI drive was in sports mode at the time and wouldn't change either. I pulled over pretty much straight away, and the light stopped flashing and everything went back to normal.

I'm just a little confused as this has happened once before (same circumstances, 80km/h in 6th), but the light only flashed for about 2 seconds. I have seen a few posts regarding the cruise light flashing at the same time but this didn't occur when it happened to me.... The car seems to be driving fine otherwise

Anyway any help would be appreciated, cheers legends!

Get hold of a scan tool and check whether there is a code stored in memory.

^ This.

There will be a code stored. There is a way to display codes on the dash (I have done it on my MY07 30RB), I just can't remember how to do it.
Pretty sure there is a thread on here somewhere.....

Thanks for the help guys, I will check for codes tonight before I head out! I did speak to my mechanic who thinks the engine may have been choking due to little/no throttle input and too much fuel flowing through not being burnt... We'll see what comes up though!

So thanks to you guys I managed to find the code that had been stored (c0109). From this link (http://2006-e.enginecodedb.com/c0109.html) it sounds like my mechanic was right on the money! Cheers for the help dudes! :D

?? DTC C0109 is an ABS Diagnostic Trouble Code ??

From the factory Service Manual.
Has to do with the power feed to the ABS Control Module

S: DTC C0109 POWER VOLTAGE MALFUNCTION
DTC DETECTING CONDITION:
Power supply voltage of the ABSCM&H/U is too low or too high.
TROUBLE SYMPTOM:
• ABS does not operate.
• EBD may not operate.
NOTE:
If EBD does not operate, the brake warning light illuminates in addition to ABS warning light. Both warning
lights go off if voltage returns.

Didn't sound like a fuel/air metering code to me either.

I think that website is attaching powertrain code numbers to body and chassis code prefixes.
