Blown motor swap

Hi guys,

Long story short my girlfriends Liberty blew a motor because she doesn't check her oil.

Vehicle is a 2005 gen 4 Liberty sedan, 3.0 h6 manual.
Plans are to swap the motor out,I haven't had a chance to inspect anything, but imagine the damage is catastrophic,
and not cost efficient to repair given the price of motors.

Things I am looking for are; differences is models for the gen 4 six. Were there any changes to motors, ect. I did read that late 06' was a change and will not drop in.

Is there a difference in the crank between auto and manual? Can I swap out her manual parts onto an auto motor.

List of any recommended parts to swap while I'm doing this? Rear main, spigot bearing or bush and.....?

And, if I'm not pushing my luck, has anyone swapped a motor and give me any hints or tips for this job?

Any help or info will be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Vince.

I would personally swap like with like (same year).

Then also make sure you change the head gaskets before you put it in.

I'd also see if you can get someone to fabricate some quality head studs at a decent price, maybe these guys :

Then sell the broken engine for parts or rebuild.

Basic stock replacement ARP studs would be a sensible upgrade? :)
