How much boost could a stock 3.0R motor take

More out of interest at this point. Not because I have the time or money to do it.
How much boost could you screw into a stock built EZ30. I see the raptor SC kit pushes up to 9.5psi. Could it take any more?
If at some point in the future time and money would allow I would consider fabricating the headers and creating a turbo setup.

How long do you want it to make the power for? :-)

"Boost" isn't a unit of measure like kw or Nm, different turbo/SC setups will flow different amounts at the same "boost".

For example a vf46 can make 20psi of boost on the Ej255, but a GT3582R will blow the stock engine up at that boost.

So you're not comparing apples to apples.

250kwatw seems to be what most people tune them to at max. After that you'd want to get some custom pistons and strong bits inside - and go for 800HP with ease.

Thanks for that. The idea would be to still have the car as a daily. So it would need to be reliable for daily driving plus the odd track day (once a year about) I have visions of a future where I have spare time to do this kind of thing. Chances are it will never happen, but it would be an interesting journey. I will have to do some more research into what sort of turbo/turbos would work well on this.

Justins Twin Turbo H6 is now making 280Kw on 10psi with a safe tune, torque from just off idle
Darren/James/Warren are all pushing over 270Kw on stock motors, Darren had the EWG vac hose melt and ran 18psi for one run with fuel/timing being scaled to 6g/rev for safety for something like an overboost was to occur to protect engine. Made 285Kw@3200rpm... backed off by 4000rpm

Good question, I have forged pistons and conrods in my H6 which was done as future proofing as I wanted to increase the boost with my sc setup have still yet to see more than 7psi despite running a pulley capable of producing 11psi. Currently going through a long and tedious process of trying to detect any leaks.

I would happily run higher boost/flow until we find the next weakest link which would probably be head bolts. If the engine was standard I don't think I would like it if was making more than 400hp having seen how easily the conrods bend.

Honestly I think I would more than happy with 250awkw. I just don't want to spend $7k on getting there with a SC kit. Considering my car is worth a whopping $10k. I would rather look at what I can build myself over time. Much more interesting. My thought is that I could actually use the Raptor headers as as start point and fabricate the rest of the turbo manifold myself. Either two small turbos or a single twin scroll. Still pipe dreams at this point. (pun intended)

These guys have the right idea

I love the idea of running twin turbos on the H6, very impressed by the one that was on this forum. My experience with engine builders here in the uk on the H6 is not good, its just such a small market here no one really understands these engines.

Depends what 1/4 MPH they're getting :)

If you are running twin turbos would you still use the stock intake manifold? These may sound like stupid questions but its a learning process. The only twin turbo I found on the forum has not pictures

This one directed more at Matt. Can you tune the car with a turbo on the stock ECU?

Since you're wanting to do it as cheap as possible wouldn't a bigger single turbo be better. Surely a larger single costs a fair bit less than two, and shitloads less fab work.

Yes agreed. The comment on not finding pics on the twin turbo was more a response to SpecB SC. I am more in line with what you are saying. Getting a single twin scroll so it spools up early.
I should probably ground myself a little again. There is no way I am going to be able to get this started any time in the next year. Probably have to buy a new house first.
At least that gives me time to research the crap out of it.

There was a guy in Russia racing a turbo H6 pretty sure he was using the pen inlet manifold.if your only running low pressure turbos up to around 14psi I'm sure the manifold will take it.

Yes, all of the ones I have done have been on stock ECU including the 3.6L H6s as well(8psi into a 3.6L Outback for towing torque on a stock auto)
