Aftermarket headlights for 07 Liberty (facelift)

Postby Daytona » Wed Aug 05, 2015 6:40 am

Hey - has anyone come across any aftermarket headlights for the Liberty?
Specifically the facelift model with the little cutout for the headlight washer mechanism.

Needing new headlights and was wondering what options I have other than stock.

EDIT - and would anyone know the model number for the lamp assemblies (left+right)?
I've tried opposed forces but having a bit of trouble finding the facelift code.

>>>

EDIT2 - think I found the part numbers:

84990AG560 (right)
84990AG570 (left)

http://opposedforces.com/parts/legacy/e ... tration_3/

Doing a Google image search seems to show the right headlight assembly.

No such thing as aftermarket headlights for any Gen4.

The only aftermarket lights you will find are Gen4 wagon tail lights - that's it.

Take your VIN down to a local Subaru Stealership and ask for a quote for headlights, they'll give you a print out with the part numbers etc (and some stupidly ridiculous price I imagine)

Man, that sucks!

With NZ dealers - they don't seem to give out part numbers :-(
I've tried before with the AVCS solenoids - I called them with my rego and VIN and they could give me a price, but they would not give out part numbers. I had to end up calling Australia (which I may do for this) to get part numbers.

Try searching on here - https://partsouq.com/

If use your VIN # it will list the exact genuine parts and numbers for your vehicle, have purchased a lot of genuine parts from them and prices are very good, shipping is quite reasonable too and goods usually arrive within 3 - 4 business days (very quick to Australia at least)

Halogen or HID? Either way they're going to cost a bomb.

You're probably better off trying a wreckers and finding a car that's been rear ended.

As for part numbers, Part Souq show (for my Post FL spec B which has the HID):

84001AG360 LAMP ASSEMBLY-HEAD RIGHT 84001A
84001AG370 LAMP ASSEMBLY-HEAD LEFT 84001B

Pricing is US$1300 each...

Thanks for that link! I've seen that site a bit - right now I'm using AVO JDM and they've been super awesome.

Cheers for those part numbers. I had a quick look at them and they look like they're for the entire headlight (hence that price!). What I'm looking for is a part of the headlight, basically the outer and inner plastics, but without the HID ballasts and what not (HID by the way). But I think your part numbers are correct more than mine.

With those lights - 84001A and 84001B, it looks like 84910AC and 84910AD are the actual bits - which should be wayyyy cheaper as they don't have electronics/bulbs or anything. Thanks a bunch for that though, definitely helped with the part numbers!

Man - stupid story. I'm trying to change a lot of my lighting to LED where I can (interior domes are still normal bulbs as I prefer the warm light) but long story short I stuck 15W bulbs in the side lamp sockets. They worked fine and all but I totally forgot somehow about the increased heat. They melted a bit of the plastic cover (on the inside). I've got other lights in there now and it's all fine but it just annoys my OCD levels not having the front nice and tidy!

Doh indeed! Was shouting some words when I did that.

Just checked out that site again - stuck my VIN in and on the diagram they show up as:

84910AC and 84910AD

But when you click on them, they turn into:

84990AG560 and 84990AG570

About $170 each, which isn't too bad.

Right, got the drivers side light done, just waiting on the passenger side.
If anyone else ends up just wanting to replace the clear plastic and reflector (but not entire headlight), these are the part numbers:

84990AG560
84990AG570

You'll also need the rubber ends (on top of the headlight):

84942AG030
84942AG040

And you'll also need the gasket stuff:

84940AG100

I totally forgot about getting the gasket and since I needed to get the headlight back in, I ended up using silicon. I know I shouldn't have, and probably should have used some butul stuff, but silicon was what I had to work with. Fingers crossed I don't get condensation!

Night and day difference, right now one headlight is new, the other one is old and it's a massive difference!

Still a heap cheaper than new lights.

Fascinating thread!
From research (Headlight and Heater, Abbotsford) , 3m soft grey polyurethane sealant is the preferred alternative to the oem gasket part.
It has to be applied with a gun, so going with the extruded oem gasket might be easier to DIY.
I'll have to weigh up the price/convenience relationship :)

As regards eg postFL insurance replacements:

If one does order replacement headlights in Aus, they are apparently aftermarket stock replacements according to the Makin & Luby parts counter. ($1200 each, slightly less for trade pricing, iirc) I have a quote somewhere...

Headlight & Heater do exchange units for around $700 each, reseals for $150 each...

Yeah, way cheaper than a direct replacement.
I'll take some photos (still trying to work on the exhaust video when the missus has free time for that) and show the difference. Night and day man.

Definitely an interesting job though, getting the headlights out is actually quite easy, only about four or five bolts on them. Only clips holding the bumper in. Hardest bit was separating the parts where the gasket was. Was too nervous to stick it in the oven as what others have done!

Hairdryer or heat gun into a lightly sealed cardboard box works too, or directly on the seal when prying... Or both methods consecutively ;)

Don't be scared of putting them in the oven... I've don't it twice now to both my headlights and no issues...

Remove the screws and halogen bulb and place it on a hand towel on a baking tray. Preheat oven to 180deg then put the lights in for 8 minutes (no more) and this will make the sealant pliable enough to separate. Pretty easy to do and you don't need any tools to separate it. Do it slowly though so all the sealant stays on the one side then you're good to go...

There's a video on YouTube of it (a few actually) but I watched the one where the guy was working on his Civic lights.
