Cylinder head bolts... Part number?

Postby ILLiberty » Thu Jun 25, 2015 7:00 pm

Hey all,
Does anyone know where I can find the part number for replacement head bolts for a gasket change.
Ive tried all the sites like opposedforces and subaruengineparts but I dont seem to be able to find them.

Ill probably just call the dealership in the morning, but if anyone has the part number or knows of a better place for me to look online, that would be awesome, cheers!

Please do not use stock bolts if there are ARP headstuds available. If you've had a failed headgasket, the bolts are very often part of the problem. Replace them as soon as you have the chance, and it sounds like you have the chance.

I see they don't have them for the 3.0L on their site.
Now you've got me worried about replacing with stock...

IMO you should be. Bolts can store torque by twisting, instead of actually tightening, among other things.

I'll find out which studs are good for Ez30 tomorrow. Will post it here. Until then I'm sure there are a few forums around that have tackled the issue.

Hi there,
Certainly use new bolts should you feel that is required.
However, the Subaru Factory Service Manuals do show up the head bolts as a mandatory change-out (replacement) item.
The FSM does recommend lubricating the threads and the undersides of the washers.
Quote "(1) Apply a thin coat of engine oil to washers and cylinder head bolt threads."
