Yes, that sort of whining, just loading it stationary. Had it out today, and the noise is completely gone after refreshing most of the fluid, and the car even feels like its got more go , more lively. Sometimes winding a lot of lock on stationary it would stall the motor.
Try a fluid flush and see how you go, before committing to a new pump.

Repair is not up to me. It's up to the dealer and his mechanic as the car is under Statutory warranty. Probably go down the paddle pop sticks and gaffer tape route no doubt to fix.

The O ring trick didn't work, I think it's a little louder now. Did notice that the old O ring was more squarish compared to the over priced new one.

So when I purchase a replacement pump, you surely don't have to replace the reservoir do you? Just clean it out? Also the hoses I think seem fine, just replace the current hose clamps with standard Phillips screw type? Also I didn't see a mention of flushing out the ps steering rack? Is this needed?

CorgiWerx have exchange rebuilt Gen4 H6 pumps in stock.

No, you do not need to replace the reservoir, unless it is damaged some way (unlikely)
Draining and replacing the fluid id a good idea, if you wish to achieve the best results.

Yeah I emailed you this week, just want to brush up on the procedures on replacing the pump. Only thing I'm a bit iffy about is the tension of belt.

Also one more thing with the pump, are the refurbs an improvement over the stock in someway? more durable etc?

Pumps are simply rebuilt OEM pumps.
We lap them to remove the wear and chatter marks caused by the cavitating vanes and the close them up to the original dimension.
Would be the same as the original

Fun times ahead! Time to buy a 4l bottle of Dexron 3!

*sigh*, so the whining continues.. Sick of spending money for nothing.

So far,

Replaced the top ps hose and clamp.
Replaced O-ring
Replaced ps pump
Replaced pulley bearings

Yet I can't find a competent person who knows what they are talking about.

My mechanic Cromwood have now told me in two instances after a minor service that the issue has been resolved and that when the hose was replaced, the whine has almost gone. The second time when the pulley bearings were replaced, he said that the whine was mostly gone but there is a hum from the ps pump which again is bs as I can't hear a difference, the whine is still there.

I’m going through this thread accumulating the parts and consumables for fluid flush, o ring and clamp plus installing a new ac belt, Fluidampr and new rad hoses.

Its a great reference, thanks to all that contributed!

One thing to add, via Corgiwerks on FB: check the strainer mesh in the Ps reservoir for obstructing residue.

Its one of those undiagnosibles that can catch out the unwary I’m wary, so I’ll be checking it out during the procedure...
