Fuel consumption :S

Postby Nooobness » Tue May 26, 2015 3:04 pm

Hey guys i've been getting about 350-400 kms before i the reserve light comes on

that equates to about 12.5-14.2L/100km. And this is a combination of metro/highway driving

I know that this is somewhat expected for a 3.0R but do you guys reckon that anything could be wrong?

thanks!

jon :)

Those numbers are perfectly fine for a 3.0R, pretty much average.

For heavy city driving, don't be surprised if you're on the wrong side of 15L/100km...

Check the intake resonator box near the throttle body for cracks
we've now seen almost all 3.0's around here crack the airbox, this plays havoc with fuel trims
Always use 98RON fuel

get it tuned asap. (PM Matt, throtlehappy / Kido Tuning)

After tuning my city only consumption was down at about 12
combined was spot on 10
highway only was down as low as 8.2 for some trips

Can vouch for this,
only get around 200k's from half a tank on 98 even with a tune, and that's if i'm being light on the accelerator.
But a tune will definitely help with those numbers especially on the highway

My experiences....

Pre tune
City Driving (stop/start traffic) about 15ltrs/100kms by the trip computer
Highway driving M5 down to Goulburn and back - high 8 litres/100kms [say 8.6 to 8.8]

Post Kido Tune (on 98RON)
City Driving (stop/start traffic) dropped to 12.8ltrs/100kms by the trip computer
Highway driving Sydney to Yarra valley return via Hume Highway and Seymour 8.0 litres/100kms

Post E85 Kido Tune (on E85)
City Driving (stop/start traffic) 15.2/100kms by the trip computer and goes like stink!

thanks for all your input guys! :)

That being said, looks like the next thing that I need to get done is a tune from matty!
