Pre Purchase Inspection Results - Do I walk away

Postby niksta » Sun Apr 05, 2015 11:33 am

I have a report on 2005 liberty spec b .
report mentions the following
wiper Electric motors are tired.
CV Joints,Linkages, Bushes and Shock absorbers are worn.
Especially the shock absorbers will need early replacement.
Gear shift linkage is severely worn and needs early replacement.
Oil leak at lower engine area.
Do i just leave it and walk away.

I have never heard of a "tired" electric wiper motor.

How handy are you with a spanner?
After all, it is a ten year old car.
I hear "early replacement"
How many kay's has the vehicle travelled. What constitutes "early"

The words "oil leak" scare me as this is the most expensive item on the list.
Leaks in the head gasket seam area are expensive, and yes 3.0R engines sometimes do show them.
A photo of the leak would tell more.

If in doubt, don't.

By the way, my 3.0R-B had a leaking RHS front output shaft seal when I bought it.
It was (only) an oil spill from an over zealous gearbox oil fill at an earlier service.

My son's Outback failed a RWC for a failed lower arm rear bush.
It was (only) the A/C water outlet drain immediately above it that made it look failed.
Some times an inspection on the inspection report is in order.

Then nothing really sounds "early"
Sounds a bit "within normal operation"?
