Went to Super Cheap this morning to get a baseline pricing for K&N panel vs. pod etc. He said that an 'unenclosed pod' was illegal unless it is enclosed. Is a cold intake setup such as the one from Turbox meet this criteria, or are there no legal ramifications. I had a cold intake and pod setup on my R33 Skyline with an open-top box that essentially partitioned it from the rest of the engine bay, but used the bonnet as the lid. The intake noise was awesome albeit the car was turbo’d.

I’d be keen to invest a few extra $$ in a CAI setup as opposed to a K&N panel to achieve more efficient flow, better induction sound and cooler (and more dense) air intake.

Great thread

still looking for a custom pipe that'll run the Air intake all the way to the bottom to make a proper CAI.

Sound is awesome.

What about the performance improvement? Any dyno before and after?

I have done the resonatorectomy and that did make a difference to the induction noise. Then added the quad tip mufflers, also added to the sound. Quite happy with it at the moment (MY05 3.0R 5AT) unless there is a performance gain involved.

Kind Regards,

Mark.

Someone is selling a CAI full unit.

Asking $430 for it. Have a look in the for sale section.
