New Bspec owner ???

Postby veefa bspec » Sat Feb 21, 2015 10:47 am

Hi all.
I am a new bspec owner. I picked it up yesterday arvo.
Heres my dilemma, Driving back from Sydney in the wee hours about 2hr into the trip the (engine warning light came on-and the traction control light- and the cruise control light).
the cruise control light is Flashing. the othe two are just staying on. also the (s) for sport mode is also flashing ..

History of car is great no probs
low low ks.
1 owner
its a late 06 Liberty sedan Bspec 3.0r with Si drive/paddle shift H6 engine

I am aware of obd as my mate has a program to chech it out . but is this common and can it be fixed with an after market fault diagnosis,
The Dealer ship want to charge me $135 p/hr to diagnose. stuff that . the car is driving sweet engine oil is clean and at good level/ the coolant was a tad low so I have topped up.

any help much appreciated :D

I am mech minded however its my first liberty and don't want to stuff it buy driving it as the dealer ship said not to ( I did buy this private mind you)

thanks again and great site

Welcome to the forum and Liberty's world of common faults.

For the "cruise control" light flashing... that to do with a fault in the secondary air pump which the code can be cleared. Dont bother with getting a replacement as it will be high $$$.
Read this to understand more how to get around it. http://www.mrtperformance.com.au/resources/technical-documents/1409-Subaru-WRX-Forester-STi-Secondary-Air-Pump-Fault-

A word of advice .. stay clear of this forum ... it will give you "ideas" which will definitely empty your wallet more and more.

Seriously.... the guys on here are great... it like a big family and everyone will go out of their way to help you.
There are alot of useful info on here... take your time reading through all the threads before asking questions (people hate it when u are lazy).
Depend on ur budget / taste / how far you are willing to mod .... your new baby will make u smile for many years to come.

All the best.

Reach out to a local member who has a Tactrix, btSsm, or elm327 obdii plug and get the code read.
Or get the code read at a local garage or dealer, it takes about 5 minutes.
Then research the solution based on that code here.
The best bet is to eventually get your car tuned both for economy performance and auto box tune :)

Veefa bspec, please don't listen to Tien as he has a 2.5GTB and you have a H6. 3r specb's do not have secondary air pump. Bigbadbenny has given best advise. Cruise control flashing could mean various things. Get the code read and then research or advise back on this thread so we can help.

Hay peoples.
is it just my car or do these run hot, my07 bspec auto....even on short trips car seems to be hot ie heat radiating out from engine bay, temp gage says normal ?? I ask this as I have driven a few over the years but never noticed this b4 or could there be an issue??

The car has no evidence of damage from a smash but the steering wheel doesn't align strait with the seat or dash ??? is that normal ..

Also just had a 4 wheel alignment yesterday and the stupid mech has scubbed the front bumper and knocked it off its mounts and left a very nasty canyon on bumper.
ill be there again at his door first thing Monday and yes he will be fixing it and spraying it.... :assassin:

P0420 is common issue. Disable it in a tune and problem solved, even if its stock tune

Radiator fans are on at 103 degrees so they push a LOT of heat out. Lower temps to low 90s and your headgaskets will thank you for it

yes cheers, iv sorted the co2 senca ...p0420.
im not sure what you mean regarding the (103 degrees /- lower temps to low 90 and your bla bla).
? Do you mean I should try and get temps lower down to 90s or that's recommended, head gaskets are sweet .. :?:

radiator is sweet fans kickin fine my question is do these models run hot ie boxer h6 etc etc . or do I have a problem . .its not running stupid hot it just feels like a lot of heat from under bonnet..

cheers for any advise

just like to cover my tracks

I purchased Direct OEM replacements from eBay for $320 - AFI Sensors I think. Had all sorts of trouble with them. They are not as responsive as Denso sensors and resulted in the car running very rich. Had to get a refund and purchase a Genuine Set of Denso Sensors.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SUBARU-OXYGE ... 1e97939def

Expensive but did the trick. No more issues with O2 Sensors.
