I am looking to upgrade my Turbo Liberty Heritage to either a 3.0 RB manual or less likely a 2.0 GT 5 speed. For the price I find it hard to go past the 3.0RB due to the 6 speed and great suspension. Having only had turbo Subarus before, is ther anyhting to be aware of with the 3.0 litre. I am looking at a 2005 model with around 33000 K.

just get a subaru mechanic to have a look at it and have a look yourself at the service book.. the Ez30's are normally pretty reliable.. give the car a good test drive too!!

I just purchased an 05 with 41 on the clock. Main things I looked for were paint, panel, door gaps etc for signs of repair/accident damage. Interior trim etc. Engine bay for oil leaks or signs of repair.

Personally I couldn't be happier. A great drive that is quick enough around town and a nice and comfortable cruiser.

To answer your question specifically - in all of my pre-purchase research on LegacyGT, OzLiberty and Liberty.ASN - I can't remember reading any Spec.B specific issues to look out for.

You might miss the turbo fun, and the ease of which you can increase power on a turbo compared to how hard it is to give your 3.0 NA more power later on down the track

Thanks for all the feedback folks, was particularly interested in any model specific issues, but sounds like there aren't any.

Have found one at a the local Subaru Dealer with 33 000 for around 37K before haggling so will see how that goes. There is a similar priced GT at another yard with 45 000 K to compare it to. Have also been scanning the private Carsales ads but the lack of tax invoice for a lot of those makes them less competitive to a car yard.

Why what are the specs of your car before you take the bits off. Would you sell it modified? If so how much?

It has a complete set of Brembo brakes, STi Genome Mufflers and 5 x Prodrive 18 x 8 rims with Falken RT 615 tyres. I can get minimum of 6k selling these through the WRX Club which I will put towards a set of track wheels for my next car (Mitsubishi EVO X at this stage). If I was to sell it as it is probably $39k with a tax invoice. I'll be putting it on car sales as soon as Ive ordered the new car for $34k with a tax invoice. Oh yeah for the 39K you could also have the 5 x 18inch original wheels and tyres which are as new and the original brakes.
