H6 Engine mount movement.

Postby Blake8828 » Tue Jun 24, 2014 5:45 pm

Hi guys,
Just posting a video of how much my engine mounts move under load. Would like to know if its excessive or not?
I have replaced the pitch mount and gearbox mount and they were both in a very bad way. So there is a very good chance the engine mounts are dead too, they just look like a pain to get to!

Opinions would be great! at 24 seconds the motor really starts to lift.....

Also, if anyone has replaced their engine mounts on a H6 it would be good to hear how hard/easy it was to do :)

Cheers.

I've ordered some new mounts, only $68 each and new ones can't hurt since both the transmission mounts were dead.

Once I get a chance to replace them I will post my results :)

For those who are interested, I changed the mounts the other day.

Before the change there was a loud buzzing noise above 4000rpm which is now gone.

The old mounts look visibly fine, although were compressed about 5mm to 10mm which is probably normal considering the age.

Engine movement is pretty much the same, the new mounts actually felt softer than the old ones which is not a surprise considering how compressed they were.

Not a hard job, just pretty damn tight to get to some bolts. If anyone wants some tips on replacing them let me know and i can answer any question you might have.
